just taken on a greyhound and he thinks it great to howl everywhere when left in the car the garden, want to try one before i pay out. will pay the postage

Un sure these things will work for howling ..i have been lead to believe its for dogs that constantly bark

I may be wrong

i am up for trying anything my neighbour is not very happy about the noise coming from this big lad!

I hired an anti bark collar the spray ones from my vet for William. It didn't work he figured out that if he barked enough he could empty the spray then he could bark without anything happening  and OH says he is thick :- "

Try your vet he may have one to hire out like mine did

Hi,

Your local council might be able to help.

A friend of mine had one on loan from them.

Good luck with your dog.

Pat.

If this dog is new out of racing kennels and into a home he's quite likely to have separation issues at first. I'd be very worried that 'punishing' him for showing his distress is likely to turn him into a nervous wreck and make things worse rather than solve anything.

If he's howling because he's frightened of being alone, then it would be better to work on his separation anxiety. There are lots of websites that give good advice about this, or if he came from a rescue I'm sure they will advise.

I tried one out on Stan once when he was much younger as he went through a stage where he just wouldn't stop barking. The spray was only triggered with a proper deep/loud bark. That was my own experience with them...a few years ago now. Not used it again as it upset him too much. Wouldn't recommend it for sensitive/nervy dogs

greyhounds do not react to these collars for some reason, if you are anywhere near him when he howls try squirting him with cold water in a squeezy bottle
