Anyone know if there is any dog show around Derry or locally ,around December time ?

There is a match show at St Columb's park, Derry, N Ireland at the end of November. Also you may be interested in ringcraft classes run by Londonderry Canine Association. I believe the club has a facebook page, though I haven't looked at it.

There aren't many shows anywhere Dec-Feb, a few at Cloughran show centre, just north of Dublin city

Antrim & District Canine Club have an Open Show on Sat 4th Dec at Carrickfergus Leisure Centre. If you want more info the secretary is Iris Cummings Tel : 02890 799219. I think entries might have just closed. ;)

That's the only show I know of in Dec in N. Ireland

Thanks won't be home from the states till late December so won't be able to make any shows, how do I go about seeing what shows are on and dates ? Have a German Shepard thinking about taking her to some shows

oh, too bad we won't see you at the match show this Sunday (if you mean you are already in the US). But I do recommend you join your local club to keep in touch re Derry ringcraft classes, match shows and nearby kc shows.

also the IKC and Kennel Club (the UK) websites have show listings as does http://www.showdogsireland.com/

Some shows here are run under IKC rules and some under British, so you have to look at more than one website to find info. Once you enter shows you are likely to find show sec'ys will send you schedules. If you go to Londonderry Canine Association meetings you will also get info by word of mouth.

first 2011 show I know of in N Ireland is Sun 27 Feb at King's Hall, Balmoral, Belfast. Newtownards & District Canine Club - IKC Championship Dog Show. You can find sec'y address and phone no via the showdogsireland website, link above

on line entry for IKC ch. shows: http://www.dogshowentry.ie/

Thanks for that info there, gona just take my pup up to see what the shows are like i want to get into them and start going to them

The match show at St Columb's Park, due to road conditions during the snowy weather, is rescheduled for this Sunday at 2.30 pm (come at 2 if you want to see the last session of the current ringcraft class)

At match shows you can enter on the day and you don't need to have kennel club registration details. The usual format is to match two dogs together, drawn from the hat, then match winners against each other, til overall winner is declared. Quite different from the group system at most shows.

If you want to travel eastwards, much on in Feb.: There's a hound group open show at Ballyclare Leisure Centre Sat 5 Feb. All-breed open shows at Avoniel Leisure Centre in Belfast the following two Saturdays, and an IKC championship show at Balmoral showgrounds (behind Kings Hall), Belfast Sun 27th Feb. There is still time to enter the last two shows, but not much time.

IF you are interested in showing and would come as far as Derry, there is a 3 week stagecraft class starting tomorrow (29 Jan) at St Columbs Park leisure centre at 2pm. Fee £20 including £5 club membership. You could bring a nonKc dog if you wanted, still get practice for lurcher or companion dog shows, and general practice walking dog around other dogs and having dog handled by strangers.
