Hello everyone ,Jess has finished her season ,everything seems fine with her but i have noticed a very slight puffiness or swelling around her teats, is this normal or should i be worried at all ?I do know she has not been near another dog.Any replies would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks Liz xxx

sounds like a phantom pregnancey to me my tia has them after her seasons to ,should clear up on its own, if your worried thou pop her to the vets better safe than sorry :)

a couple of my bitches do this after a season its not a fantom as such just high hormones they take a few weeks but soon go down they may come up again around 8 or 9 weeks after her season aslong as shes not showing any other signs of a fantom just ignore it. i know some people limet there exerces if they have swollen teats. its quiet nornal though

rubys like this, i would say i noticed it on the last two days of her season and they slowly got bigger, not huge just like you say puffy swollen, im assuming as shes only just out of her season its not a phantom, i was putting it down to hormones :b

The teets will get slightly bigger and stay bigger permanently after a bitch starts her seasons. They often have additional swelling afterwards, it doesn't mean its a phantom pregnancy. Don't worry.

most of my girls puff up around their teats after a season, totally normal ;)

as jok said this does not mean its a phantom, some bitches can also come into a bit of milk after a season, 1/4 tea spoon of epsom(n)sp? salts for 3 or 4 days soon dries it up

dont worry

i ment to add earlier a fantom the bitch acts very diffrent to normal carying looking for pups nesting and they can get very distressed you realy would know if it was that and it would be around the time pups would be due

My bitch is going through the same thing if you squeeze the teets and milk comes out it's a sure sign of a phantom. Also if she is digging her bed or sofa maybe carpets things like that. Mines even dug a whole in the garden and layed in it? Also some offish behaviour and protectiveness over food or toys can occur. My bitch to a latex chicken as hostage! Then back end can get slightly swollen too. If it's just the teets and nothing else with no milk prob wont be a phantom. xx
