Does anyone know of any? I am in Co Wicklow. Thanks
whippet club of ireland open show 4th nov 07 at cloghran.it's held inconjunction with scottish terrier club of ireland.schedule available from fionnuala malone 00353 0 86 8750614 :luck:

thanks for that info

or maybe no thanks - as I had no plans to go to Cloughran (too far from Derry) and now that I know it's a whippet specialty I have to think again.

Fionnuala said entries close 16 Oct (postmark) -- maybe they'll make allowances for the postal strike which affects Northern Ireland? also she said they needed a change of venue or else a change of date! -- most likely to be same date in another hall not far from Cloughran. And Fionnuala said the show is limited to members of the Irish Whippet Club. Or did she just mean only members can take home cups, which I understand is the situation at Northern Ireland whippet club shows?

There is some backlog in postal deliveries in the aftermath of the Royal Mail strike. I didn't receive my schedule from Fionnuala until Fri so I thought it was too late to enter, but I phoned and she is still accepting email entries this weekend. If you have a distance to travel, you may be pleased to know that judging for stakes commences at 12 noon and breed classes at 12.30.

You can enter the following classes: puppy d/b, junior d/b, intermediate d/b, open d/b - all classed by age (intermediate for 15-24 months, open for dogs over 15 months old)

There are separate classes for dogs and bitches, i.e. open dog & open bitch are two classes, which is not always the case in open and limit shows.

There are also all-breed stakes: puppy, verteran, brace, Champion and Junior Handling: 10-12 years, 13-14 years, 15-17 years.(all dogs must be entered in a breed class as well)

Entry fees 5 Euro first dog, 2 Euro additional entries, 5 Euro for Champion stakes, and £ Euro for other stakes and for Junior Handling.

The judge for whippets and for group 10 is Ms S McDonald; contact Fionnuala if you require info regarding another breed.

e-mail entries can be sent to

part 1: glenfitor

part 2: @esatclear.ie

(my reason for dividing the address into two parts is to deter automated spamming)

Hi Phillipa

As long as your whippet is registered with the Irish Kennel Club anyone can enter, you don't have to be a paid up member of the Whippet Club of Ireland. She probably did mean that you needed to be a paid up Club Member to take home any trophies you might win as this is the norm with most breed club shows. :)

Hope this helps

Tracy

due to another booking of IKC showhall at Cloughran (Dublin), the show date has been changed to 25 Nov. Judging starts at 12 noon with puppy stakes

Thank you so much for this information, is it ok to pop along if you dont have a whippet? :b

You can go along without a whippet  this is show is actually an all breed open show, with the Whippet Club of Ireland holding their open show in conjunction with it. So there will be lots of different breeds for you to see. (w00t)

Sorry we won't be their with our whippets to say hello :) , but have a good day if you do pop along!!

Tracy
