We had reports at Kelmarsh that certain undesirables had been hanging round the coursing area at Tame, and when the dogs were running, these people were running on and trying to catch them as they were finishing!! One story we heard is that they tried to catch one guys dog and the guy hit them with a chair, so the police were involved! Is this true?? If so, i think people ought to know, so that we can all be more careful when running dogs at these events. It makes you wonder what lengths people will go to to steal dogs.

thats terrible! was hoping that the stories had been exaggerated somehow. its unbelievable to think that you can't even take your dogs to an event without the risk of them being pinched from right in front of you.

Yeah,..I thought something was going to 'go down' on Sunday when the Travellers came onto the Pakefield Ferrets stand . They were fairly mob handed and kept asking the seemingly obligatory question of 'Would ya sell your dags mister?"... :(

I've been hearing the same chant for over 40 years,..feck me,.I use to live with the Hop picking Romany families in Kent,..but,.we never stole jukels ..

This kind of threatening intimidation is getting worse. It seems that these characters feel that they MUST behave in such a manner ? Its almost as though they are acting out some kind of real -life, 'Snatch' -like movie :D

I'm pleased to hear that they received short thrift from the lurcher boys.

Such vermin deserve little mercy.

I've lost several running dogs during my life with lurchers,..mostly through hitting stuff,.etc,.but,.'touch wood' I've never had to sit at home wondering where my chored lurcher has ended up,.and how its life is going to be without me... :(

Personally , Ide rather a dog busts his neck than it be stolen....

Right,.lets all keep our eyes peeled and remain vigilant against such things.

All the best to ALL crosses,..PL...

Just hope you dont think all of us over here are Pikey's,now.Wouldnt be fair on us,if we went to a show over there ,and ended up being picked on,cause of where we come from. But then again,we in the north dont talk the slang of the Gypo's.Ihad a litter of 3/4 ColliexGreyhounds one time.Oh years ago.Advertised them in a paper, and had a call from the Gypo's.They asked a lot of questions ,as they do.Picked the 3 pups the liked.Told me they would be back in a few day's,when they got their Giro's,but came back that night and stole the pup's.Iseen the pup's every day i went into Londonderry,as the Gypo camp was beside the big bridge that we had to cross. But no way was i gona have a go at getting them back, cause i would probinly lose all the dog's if i tried. So i just put it down to experience.I am very surprised at the way they went about this though.Cause they usualy see what they want, fallow the owner home, and pay them a little midnight visit or summit.Good to hear they got their asses kicked.Well done to all concerned. ...Billy...

Shocking!!!

There were a hand full at Selby, causing some trouble but nothing like that, just Hassle.

Last year at Selby the dog that won the Sim Coursing got pinched 1 week later. :(

Just worrying to think all thats happening and as a female that goes to these events alone someties makes me think what on earth would i do if something happened like that to me..... Worrying.

YUP..WE HAD STINKING DIRTY BASTRD IRISH PIKEY TROUBLE AT SELBY. SOME OF OUR CLUB MEMBERS WERE WATCHING THE LURCHER CLASSES FROM RINGSIDE WHEN A BUNCH MARCHED OVER AND WANTED TO BUY ONE OF OUR MEMBERS DOGS...THE STINKING LITTLE BASTRD NEVER TOOK NO FOR AN ANSWER AND GOT PUSHIER AND PUSHIER.

JIM DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAY TO REACT AND BEGAN A WHOLE DEBATE ABOUT HOW MUCH THE DOG WAS WORTH...LITTLE SMELLY FUKER WENT AWAY AND CAME BACK WITH CASH IN HAND AND A THREATENING BEHAVIOUR. JIMS FAMILY WERE CRYING AND PANICING AND DEMANDED THAT HE TOOK THEM HOME INSTANTLY.

HOWEVER TO GET RID OF THEM JIM GAVE THEN £10..! SO THEY LEFT BUT THE DAMAGE WAS DONE HIS KIDS DAY WAS RUINED...........

"COME AND SEE US ON HOME GROUND YOU STINKING IRISH PYKEY BASTRDS IN 3 WEEKS........ "

WHY WHY WHY ARE THESE SCUM BAGS ALLOWED THRU THE GATES WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT THEYRE THERE FOR ???

SURELY THE LOCAL POLICE SHOULD BE ON THE GATES TOO...?

JOHN

Its not just dogs the pykes are after its ferrets as well . Was at a lurcher terrier and ferret show . A group of young lads came to us and said do you work you ferrets . We said yes the reply was ill give you £50 quid for a working ferret. The little gits were every where looking at the ferrets lurchers and terriers. Every body was on guard but a terrier still got nicked.

Did nobody offer to help him out (if you know what I mean  )

They are always at the horse sales. Loads of them selling anything. I bought a pony off them for £40, he had a broken jaw they did actually give me £5 good luck money ans the usual spit on the hand! (luckily Buddies jaw healed not too bad - hes a great pony now).

I know of some "Jummi and his Dad Animal!" that got caught with 18 nicked horses in the back of a 5 horse truck (obviously nicked too!) - got locked up and did the same thing when they were released!! There are quite few round here, always up to no good, luckily the dont generally pinch on there home turf.

They also tried nicking my norfolk terrier out of the car..

is it the running dogs they are after or is it show dogs also, have not used mine for any sim racing yet, just showing....and is it all over or is it more localised down that way, i am just showing about an hour and a halfs ride away from darlington area, tracy

i think they will take whatever will make them money. i know where i got my two rescue dogs from, they were rehoming the bitches (bull crosses mainly), breeding them, and then dumping them again. Thats why they started spaying them.

i would be careful whatever you use your dogs for. if they look like they can do the business, then they'll take them.

not a nice thought, coz most dog owners, like me, think of thier dogs as family, and just the thought of losing one of my animals to anyone who would not look after them better than me is a sickening thought, take care everyone and hope i never have to hear of anyone elses dogs going missing, tracy

No Billy I would never tar people with the same brush because of where they came from, but I do find it frustrating that these lazy scum exsist at all. Go onto an Irish rescue site & see how many lurcher types are dumped by these filth to wander the streets. If they had the gumption to put a bit of hard WORK into training & caring for their dogs in the first place, they wouldnt need to bother with nicking other peoples.

at least no dogs were took they got what they deserved came back the following day for more and didnt get in, they are thievin bastards and cowards as theres always more then 1, the first incident there was 6 of em but when one got a good hiding and the other a stool across his head the other 4 ran of anyway lurcherworld handled it very well

No one is doubting lurcherworld didnt handle it well. the reason it was mentioned is that i thought people would be as shocked as i was once they heard what had gone off, and that they ought to know to be aware of what lengths these people will go to to steal a dog.
