i am now on zoes nursery garden group :b

the aim is to get some new equipment for the kids in the garden.

so far we have a few ideas on what to do, but were really struggling for anything big that everyone can get involed in. remember the kids are all between the ages of 3 and 5years old.

so if anyone has any ideas on what we could do to raise pennies fire them at me. cause i dont have a clue.

Elishas class when they were still at nursey did a 1 mile toddle around the play ground

oh the kids also made little picture frames and the teachers put a piccy of your child in their frame then sold them to the parents for £1

1. winter panseys in a pot panted by the children.sell them

2. reaffel the childrens art that has been backed/framed.

3. make the childrens art into callenders and sell.

4. football scratch card (that you get in pubs).

5. Go round other local buisnesses and ask for things to rafel at your chistmal fair that you are going to hold.

6. ask teachers/parents to donate equipment.

carn think of anymore at the mo.

when we started our eco club we did a raffel for a garden makeover that was fun it rained all day and the kide stayed in the winners house while myself and another teacher did all the work. :b

but your kides are a little young for that. :D

when my two were at nursery they were asked to fill a smartie tube with 1p's/5p's and return.....

another good fund raiser at this time of year is 're-cycling' textiles-you ask parents to have a good old clear out-after christmas-spring clean and they send in black bin liners full of shoes, clothes, bedding etc-

some companies pay about £3 a bag to your group/nursery-have a look to see if there's one in your area.

alternatively a spring fair/jumble sale......always popular-admission 50p + what you make from goods.

What do you do in your Eco group Pepa?

The Smartie tube thing alwats creates some political unrest though due to Nestles dubious past in third world countries

Silent Auctions are good

we had a race night at the weekend which was a hoot...large screen with races projected on to it, with a bar and plenty of 'betting' chances is always a good money spinner.

Depends if you want to have an Adult fund raiser or a whole family one

we have quite a large no. of staff-so this worked well-

i asked everyone to bring in a photo of themselves as a young child/baby

a quiz of sorts to guess who was who-

-parents paid a £1 for a sheet and the person to guess the most right won a donated prize-

nice, child friendly fun activity-little ones can't quite grasp that their teacher might have once been a baby!

smartie tube problem   never an issue for us-but you could always find a similar tube/vessel

play it safe with an organic raisin box

I used to be on the fundraising team for our old primary school and also for the NCT. One of the things we did to raise funds was a nearly new toy sale. At this time of year it is a particularly good idea as it gives people the opportunity to have a good clear out before christmas. Obviously you do have to be careful just what things you accept (eg electrical items).

It works on the basis that the toys are sold on behalf of the person bringing the item in and then the school takes a percentage of the proceeds. The first year our school did it they made over a £1000.00. The head had been very sceptical and was quite surprised at the outcome. You also need to have a notice somewhere to say that you accept no responsibility for stolen goods and that items are bought as seen. Goods do get lifted however vigilent you are. It is tried and tested and an idea that was on our NCT fundraising list each year.

Hope this is of help.

thanks guys for all your ideas,

the smarties tube idea was brought up, only thing its its not a round tube any more and you cant really put the lid back on if you bust it open to fill with coins :(

the nearly new toy sale would be a good idea, im just wondering if we would have enough time to do it before xmas

but i definatly think we need to do sarahs idea, although i dont think we would raise much money as trac just cant stay away :p

:huggles:
