Has anyone had there vaccine?

My mom had an appointment for hers but has cancelled hers after she was bombarded with messages over facebook about how the jab is not safe and that some people have ended up paralyzed , had strokes, heart issues and some have gone blind.

She has also been sent a letter that doctors have apparently sent and a video. Ill link them below

Her GP has said that theres no proof of any link between clots and strokes and the vaccine and that as shes at high risk she needs the jab.

I was wondering if anyone has had the jab or knows a little about them as i know nothing about vaccines.

There have been some crazy rumours, I even heard one that said it can ”make” you gay.

My F had his several weeks ago. He is fine. A lot of friends have had it too, with no side effects other than a day of fatigue (two of them) and a sore arm (a handful of them).

I get mine tomorrow, and will definitely be going ahead - the risks from Covid are far higher than any of the largely unsubstantiated rumours.

BTW the woman in the video is anti-vaccine in general - not specifically anti-Covid vaccine. She set up her anti-vaccime group in 2015.

The guy who sent the video said she was murdered by the big pharmaceutical companies for speaking out against them.

I have many colleagues had theirs.
the most severe case of side effect I heard so far was a very healthy male colleague slept 10 hours after the vaccine
Others are mild fatigue only up to 2days
But many without any side effect

@SaraE, I'm sorry, but I've deleted the two links you posted. Some may disagree strongly with this, but they purely promote conspiracy theories with no foundation at all in truth and science. The credentials of those promoting those views are dodgy in the extreme.

The vaccines are safe. The reason they have been developed so quickly is that money has been thrown at this, and the usual stalls in development while more funding is sought through slow bureaucratic process have been avoided. Any slight risk is completely overwhelmed by the benefits - i.e. not dying from or having long-term effects of covid.

Some may argue for the right to free speech and putting forward alternative views, but in this case, the conspiracy theories, dressed as science, result in actual deaths. And the more they're shared, even if people shoot them down in flames, the more people will see them and possibly believe them, and send them on to people they know.

Fake news travels six times faster than factual news on Twitter, and that's likely to apply to other forms of social media.

And having got that out the way - I had my first one a few weeks ago. Apparently fibromyalgia makes me more vulnerable, though in my case (mild fibro) I don't think it does. I had Pfeizer, and had no side effects apart from a tender arm for a couple of days.

i cannot wait to get my vaccine! i don't want to get sick and i don't want to get the people around me sick either. i'd also love to be done with this pandemic nightmare at some point in our lifetimes!

my friends and family in other parts of the US who have been able to get vaccinated already are doing well, including those with underlying health conditions.

Thats fine , i was suspicious of both the video and the letter and just wanted to know if i was right there fake.

I was just looking at the website of the woman in the video: they claim that pharmaceutical companies are deliberately trying to make us ill so they can make more money out of us. And also that herd immunity is the ONLY immunity that works. Er, smallpox? And in more recent times, measles?

I had my first one on 8th Feb. I only had a sore/bruised feeling for a couple of days, mine was the Astra V one.
Husband was a few days before me on 30th Jan. Poor soul, he had such a very sore arm for a few days. On the evening of his vaccination he was feeling unwell with chest pains and feeling very tired and went to bed early. He woke up the next day "alive". He had the Pfizer jab.

We are now looking forward to our second jabs.

For me i trust and believe our Doctors and nurses over everyone else and i dont believe they would give us this vaccine if they thought we are at risk. There the ones i trust not these idiots on Twitter

This is what I yearn for. Having the vaccine won't make a massive difference to my lifestyle; things will be pretty much the same until we reach the critical mass of vaccinated people and we can get back to doing the things we enjoy. I long to be in a crowded, busy, noisy place - but while feeling safe.

This. You can still transmit the virus after being vaccinated (even if less effectively), and the vaccine isn't 100% effective, so you can still pass it on to older and vulnerable people who may die as a result. There's a lot of people who think that vaccination gives them the green card to party, but it shouldn't change our behaviour at all until the guidelines say we can. And even then, we should think hard about what we should do rather than what we're allowed to do. Using the bus to go to a shopping centre just for a good mooch as soon as we're allowed isn't necessarily the right thing to do.

Some people who have been vaccinated seem to think that they can not pass the disease on to others!
Surely if you touch a surface or an item that has the virus on it, and then touch something or someone else before washing your hands, (even if you are vaccinated) this must be a means of passing the virus on

I have been a social distancer most of my adult life ...nothing much has changed for me apart from having to wear a mask ... i have always shopped at 7am or earlier to avoid people ....i dont like crowds or shopping ....
I have loved the excuse for people not to visit (apart from my grandchildren )
We have been invited to my nephews wedding next year and i am going to decline even though i know this will cause my sister upset ...but one thing this lockdown has taught me is i am going to start pleasing myself and not doing what others want ...
