when i went to buy a pup of Malcolm Clark at shildon, me and Peter Winter were watching people take ther pups home and i sed to peter "no way" was i having a black and white pup i sed to peter if i want a black and white dog id get a jack russle!! we laughed, to my relief he gave me a white and blue pup and i was chuffed to bits.

We also bought a pug jenny ruby and jenny were best mates , if you could see them playing together and with roxy the "frenchie"it was hillairious.

As Ruby was growing we noticed some changes in her, She was always cocling n looked like she was going to be sick,we have a bush in the garden and all our dogs chew on it as did Ruby we all thought she,d been eating the bushes.

Ruby was a very poor eater the whole time she was here n wouldnt eat much at all, She would stand and watch all the other dogs eat theirs and when they finished she would go n lick their bowls out!! not interested in her own.

She got to 6 month old and we started to gallop her down the beach with Tia (soul 2 soul) and she would keep up with her, And i started thinking to myself "not bad", So i started her on the track gave her a couple ov hand slips at Horden and Shildon things were going good.

then at 7 month we started some trap work people were timing her saying she was doing some good times, Her first race was at Stockton it was a solo she then went in the puppy final i was a bag of nerves!!It was a good win for her and i was over the moon! her first race her first win.

After that i put her in the handicaps at Shildon for more experience and it worked a charm!

Manchesbter next she was in a 4 dog race and won it was a good run then in the final with her sister lola it was a good run with lola jus beatng her glad thease sisters had the chance to run together.

Then our nightmare began SCOTLAND!! we ran her came out the boxes hen moved to the right caught them, past them then turned her head she got disqualified i could not belive it!! my wife and kids ran her and we think she was turning around to come to me. i then had to run her twice more with tia to gain another schooling pass.

the next weekend fri night we took the kids to the fair at burnt island to get back and discoverd ruby had managed to get the medicine box (how we will never know) it was a plastic ice cream tub she had chewed through the tub and the box of the tablets aswell she was sick all over bringing most ov the tablets up.

Saturday morn checked her over n everything seemed fine, weighed her in then gave her breakfast everything seemed normal so i ran her and she WON after the race gave her a drink 2 hours later she started to wobble about and she slept the rest ov the day , The next day we had to withdraw her as she ws still a bit wobbly and sleepy, raced the other dogs and came home.

monday we took her to the vets to get checked over and they were very optimistic coz her urine was clear n she was still eating then they took blood test the test came back saying she had stomach ulcers , the vet sed if it was %30/%40 she could get treated at Edinbourgh at £175 anight for a min of 3 nights up to a week we sed money was not an option and to go ahead , after further test we discoverd her body was %84 which meant she had no hope and she,d never seen test so high , we were totally devetasted and had no choice to put her to sleep

The vet sed she would never ov lived to a year old and it was probably best we found out sooner rather than later , It now makes sence to why she hated ppl to touch her and as always snapping at the kids if they got too close she must ov been so sore .

it was a pleasure to work with Ruby and her breeding and hopefuly we can work with andy again in the future with curlin (wor johnx g/hound)

and i will never forget the one that got away

So so sorry for you Anth.

I passed comment to Mark about how she walked beside you when you went over to Peter's caravan and never left your side, so mature for a young pup, obviously a very strong bond there between the two of you. She was a bitch with huge potential and it's such a shame that her life was snatched from you at such a young age, every owners worst nightmare. There's no doubt in my mind though that she knew how much she was loved by all the family and your pack.

RIP Little girl xxx

so sad for all of you you did your best she may have only ha a short time with you but she was loved and cared for

run free little one
