Has anybody had any experience of using aspirin or canine aspirin with their dog?

My Retriever is in some pain from rheumatism and a friend has said that aspirin can help.
I am just wondering how safe and how effective it is.

The only reliable veterinary advice we can give you here is to see a vet I'm afraid. It would be inappropriate to condone the use of medication, even if we were qualified, without examining the dog.
