Average Whippet Measurements/weight!

Hi,

I need to know average girth and neck measurements for a 14 week pup and an adult bitch. :blink:

This is because I am ordering harnesses from America and want one for when the pup can first go out and one that will fit her when she is all grown up. I don't know which size to order and would hate for them to arrive too small or massive!! (w00t)

Her parents are both on the smaller side. So she will probably be similar to them, also there were 10 pups, I've heard that pups from a big litter don't grow so big?? Is that right? Sounds strange to me!! :- "

Anyway any advice and measurements please!

I have just bought 2 new harnesses from America which I am hoping will fit the boys when they are adults. I got Pax a large because he is obviously going to be about 21" or more. But Zulu, I think is going to be smaller so ordered a medium.

Having said that the large is not as large as I thought, it measures 17" - 23" round the chest. Pax is 18" at the moment at 4 months old. The medium measures 15" to 20" and Zu is 15.5" at 3 months.

Hope this helps a bit.

Ok thanks, I'll compare those measurements to the harnesses I'm looking at, which, as they are different makes they are different measurements!!

But so cute! Might get one style in Medium and one in Large to grow into.

I don't think a whippet should need a harness when out on walking.

Oh, I think that's gorgeous. It will really go with her colouring too. I got the deep purple for Pax and the bright orange for Zulu. Will put some pics on soon.

They wear collars too, but when I take them on the headlands you can't let them off cos there's a very busy road nearby so I use the harnesses and a 12 foot lead, then when they surge forward it isn't harsh for their necks.
