Took gang to the beach on tuesday, Maddie insisted on it as apparently Benson needed a treat after his big champs race (seems we've got a trainer in our midst!)
All was well, no loony dogs, kites, glass or other stuff to fret about. Dogs had a good run around and we headed towards the dune after a paddle.
Dobs, typical male sees any bit of trash and has to pee on it, see what I thought was a bucket and thought nothing of it - until it moved!
Next thing this gannet rears up and Dobs goes to grab it. The bird lunges at him and stabs him in the shoulder.
Me & Tony are running over shouting at the others for fear of them going in at it, thankfully they seen Dobs get hurt and stood their ground.
Managed to get everyone away, poor Dobs leg bleeding and him limping badly.
Rang vets and got him on anti-biotics but as swelling's going down, it feels to have gone straight through the muscle.
Can't believe he's had a full racing career being a stocky, muscley dog with no muscle tears only for a bloody bird to stab straight through one of them!
Got to think he was somewhat lucky though as these birds tend to go straight for eyes - doesn't bear thinking about.
He's managed a walk today, awkward and stiff at first but seemed better for it. :huggles:
