Just back from Swansea, had to rush down when my father was taken in to hospital with breathing difficulties (he's fine now, although he does have a problem with his heart their still trying to sort out).

But someone had a lovely doggy holiday. Sadly I didn't take my camera, so I don't have any lovely shots of my dog racing over the beaches to match Jones's, but we did all have a brilliant day on Llangennith beach last week.

There's something about the smell and feel of sand that brings on a second puppyhood, and within minutes he was racing around and running up to play with every dog he met, and had some lovely runs with an English setter and a springer. He also found a variety of washed up sheep bones, which provided no end of fun (mainly in the form of showing them off to other dogs, in an attempt to get them to chase after him) until he found a whole sheep's leg, still articulated and disappeared into the distance to enjoy at leisure. I did get it off him eventually.

We walked from Llangennith all the way to Rhossili along this beach:

(there's a campsite just behind the sand dunes in Llangennith, which seems to allow dogs if anyone fancies a nice beach hol with their dogs)

I should really be able to tell, but is it chutney or gumbo? :b

No it did feel like a holiday once the daily hospital visits stopped (what is it about hospital visiting that is so, so knackering?) I even got my father down to Pennard, not as far as the beach. Not quite so as relaxing as the Llangennith/Rhossili trip, he had apoplexy when the dog wandered near one of the gates of the cliff top houses, started yelling and then had a big sulk and refused to eat his bara brith in the tea shop (and then suddenly changed his mind and ate all of his and half of my mothers's  ) That bit about the second childhood is true, octogenarians are hard work.

At least some good came of what must have been a bit a of a grim week. :)

Yes its the chutney recipe you gave me Elizabeth and its lovely.

smashing photo btw of the cost - it looks really nice - Ive never been there.

Hope your dads feeling better soon Elizabeth  I know someone whose gone in this morning for a heart bypass so I've been sitting here hoping its going well for him

I love Llangennith :D the week I left school I went there with all my mates and stayed in a friends caravan as we usually did  then got horribly drunk to celebrate the end of school  :x

When I'd realised that I wasn't about to die from my hangover :clown: I decided I wasn't leaving as it was far too nice there :- " so much to my parents horror I lived in a caravan for nearly a year and did nothing but get drunk and surf :teehee:

Then I ran out of money and had to get a job :(

I feel really old now as I've just realised that was 20 years ago (w00t)

Cheers

Steve

He's already had the full bypass package, quadruple five years ago. If they've gone into Morriston the cardiac surgeons there are excellent - my father was operated on by Dr Wani, who only gave him a 30% chance of pulling through. I was very impressed by their attention to detail, it's a different world to the general wards up there; the admissions ward my father was in was rather disorganised :(

Sounds like heaven - I was far too busy being square and studious 20 years ago, so I'll probably spend my impending 40s being a beach bum to make up  (you weren't one of the surfing set in Olchfa around 1985 were you? (w00t) )
