The symptoms in horses are frantically tossing head,

pawing at ears with legs ( or should i say rubbing head on legs!) ,

generally looking very stressed and tense!

some horses have been known to dunk their own head in their water bucket in a frantic attempt to ease the pain/frustration

hows jill now keith?
I took her back to the vets friday cos she seemed to get worse with what he previously gave me, so he changed her anti biotics, friday night as told by my vet give her a tablet which i did, 4 20 am sat morning i got up to go the loo, jill had left my bedroom which she never does, i bombed it downstairs, and she was in her bed in the living room trembling, so i let her out, she crapped for england poor thing, then i brought her in and she went back to bed, ive rung the emergency vet and was told if she is no better monday take her back, shes lost loads of weight, not eaten anything, she is wrapped up in a blanket asleep, im trying to get her to drink water, and up till about 4 ish today wouldnt drink, but ive put down some warm sugary water which she shifted the lot and as i say now she is fast asleep, but its done my head in, shes a lovely dog and im really upset, and angry with my vet, thanks for asking

Hi keith,

Hope Jill is feeling better this evening?

we all wish her well and hope she is soon back to her old self

:huggles: from sister Honey.

sorry haven't got any advice Keith, but just hoping you get poor Jill sorted out soon, :huggles: to you both :luck: at vets on Monday

I do hope Jill is on the mend soon.

Stan is doing a lot of head and ear shaking at the moment, and has yet another hot spot, which is distressing him.

I'm really fed up with seeing him in discomfort. I've hesitated from going to the vets this time, as it will mean another huge steroid injection. I'm convinced it's an allergy...just got to try and work out what's causing it. This thread has been giving me some clues. He seems to get worse after feeding (I think).

Anyway, sorry to hear about Jill.

Hi Keith

Is there any chance that Jill might have been anywhere where she could have been stung by nettles? They are just coming up at the moment, and are much more 'stingy' at this time of year because the formic acid is much more concentrated. I always have trouble with Fly because he goes charging about in the woods, sticking his nosey nose into everything, and comes out yelling his head off because he's stung his face and feet!

Just a thought!
