Has anyone had any problems with bald skin on whippie ears. Or mites, or flaky/peeling skin just on the ears?

Interested in anyone's experiences.

When Zig Zag got older he lost most of the hair on his lugs

our phoebe as bald ears and they can get quite dry too,ive know idea why but we thought it could be something to do with shaking her head so hard when she first gets up off her bed

not they dont lick her ears ,shes top dog here so she doesnt stand for much off the others

ive also noticed just above her nose is going bald too  now thats something new

My very first whippet had bald ears and a strip across the top of her head between her ears that was bald. The vet did skin scrapings etc, and could find no cause - so it was put down to 'Whippet Alopecia'. We gave her SA37 and seaweed because it was recommended, but it never really got much better - we just got used to it :D

Daisy's ears go bald and dry, they have fluff at the moment it comes and goes. Our vet has put it down to Whippet Alopecia too.

Shes a blue I dont know if thats part of it :(

That's strange Lou - so was mine

:( Zinzin has very dark ears (she's a parti with dark face before she faded with age)... the vet even suggested sunburn which horrified me because I'm very careful on sunny days and the dogs wear sunblock on noses and ears (allergy to that has been ruled out).

She goes in for a skin scrape this week because there are minute raised bumps :( and because nothing else has worked. She's not scratching or rubbing and no-one sucks/licks her ears although she washes the others. Her brother the same age has fully fluffy ears

Poor Zin, it might just be age/alopecia after all although she's not bald anywhere else.
