Does anyone know the pedigree of (by Ladiesfield Lightning) circa 1960

This ad is all I know about him

He's a bit of a mystery for a Best In Show winner Claire

Barleyfields Moon River was out of Barleytown's Sweet Surprise first litter. He also had a litter brother Barleyfields Star Trophy.

I have some more old books I will check later to see if I can find any further info.

Interesting this. Obviously the breeder gave the dogs a name that reflected their sire and dam's kennel names: Barley reflecting the dam, Barleytown's Sweet Surprise, and Field, from the sire, Ladiesfield Lightning.

This still leaves holes on both sides of the pedigree going backwards: Ladiesfield Lightning's dam is listed as Diavolo Ella and she is not on my records or on the Archives, and on the dam side Hillgarth Sweet Sharon is the dam of Barleytown's Sweet Surprise but there is nothing going back on her either.

Any clues anyone?

I have added Barleyfields Moon River to the Whippet Archive, with the little info we have. It would be nice to see the blanks filled in.

It will end up the line -- we knew that already as I have taken her back that far already buy going back beyond that is not possible. Surely the line must go back before Hillgarth Sweet Sharon? Who are her parents? That is the question now. Any help on the old Hillgarth line would be greatly appreciated.

Okay..... this article puts Hillgarth Sweet Surprise at Roanbar. The Whippet Archive and my records both have Roanbar Hillgarth Sweet Suprise as dam to Hillgarth So Sweet.

So my money is for Hillgarth Sweet Sharon to be out of Roanbar Hillgarth Sweet Surprise.

Can anybody else support this before I go changing the Whippet Archive.

Got to say I love theme litters, when trying to sort the puzzle out, but this one is doing my head in :wacko:

I need to confirm the correct spelling on Bellary Fairy Footsteps. I have her down as Bellairy, and whippet archive has Bellary

Yes, and to complete this pedigree Silvergirl of White was sired by Seagift Serang (Samema Snowflight x Seagift Shadow of Bolney).
