Hi, my grandaughter visits this site, she's 14 i know, a young lady, but she mentioned to me yesterday that she goes on regurlarly, and has lots of friends, i asked if adults visit this site, she was reluctant to answer, so to me that means yes, so im concerned here, she said its safe, my reply was theres no site safe, can anyone tell me about Bebo, before i start searching

im on bebo (22) and my mums on bebo (50) but the average age i would say is between 13-30, it can be quite safe if you do it right, it recomeneds that under 21s set their page to private so that only people that they name as friends can see it. but weather or not they do that is a different story. my page is private because i didnt want ramdon people getting on to my page and seen all the pics of my kids.

it like anything if you use it right its safe and fun but if you use it wrong then thats where you get into trouble.

i use it as its a way of contacting freind and family that i dont get to see very often they can see all my recent pics and read little blogs about whats going on in our house at the mo eg RUBY :wub:

im sure your grandaughter is doing everything right.

my step daughter uses it purley to speak to school friends she doesnt have her page private even though we have all told her, but she doesnt seem to have any bother.

Thanks Katie, i dunno what she's got her page set to, its a grand old place the internet, never fails to amaze me, but its also an evil place as well, she says its safe, but it isnt, no site is safe from the scum of this world if they wanna get in there

your totally right and i guess you will just need to trust that she knows enough about the dangers that she protects herself against them,

she looks like a smart cookie so i would try not to worrie to much about her.

Katie, believe you me, i have many a conversation with Georgina, she's very street wise, ive instilled in her from the very word go, that if ever she's in need cos she's got no dad to turn to as such, im always here for her, some of my wisdom has rubbed off onto her, but if i read her rightly, she's a bit like me, an adrenalin seeker, a very forward young lady, i watch her dont you worry

I go on bebo and im 14. It is safe if you make it. You can make it not visible to people but your friends and you can control who you want to be your friends. There is also a way to report people if they make you feel uncomftable and your grandaughter seems like a sensible girl and im sure she won't talk to strangers..

I have a bebo page also, im 21. My mum is always asking how safe it is. I have my profile set to private so only people who add me as a friend can view it and I don't accept any friends requests unless I know who they are.

For younger people I think it is best to have your profiles set to private as there is always people out there you need to watch for that may be looking through profiles and picking up information. Although the photos on my page are mostly of Penny, I still don't like the idea of strangers looking at my pictures etc..

I go on Bebo occassionally and find it very safe. I also use Face Book but find that is more for the 20 year olds so I feel very old. ha ha

I'm on Bebo (right now) and i dont think its that bad!!! I only speak to my friends and mayby thats what your grand_daughter does!!!
