Right since k9 has been a bit dull of late due to a lot of infighting etc. let's all have a sensible topic.

Over the years which has been your favorite lurcher event and why and your worst. Being only interested in racing for me the best lurcher racing tracks would be Shanes Castle a few years ago when it was run from a different location than the last couple of years, Parkgate - over 300yds up hill through three fields and one that was held up in Ballymena uphill....don't remember the name of the fair. Worst one for me has to be the Ballywalter Game Fair...as i think that this is the only fair i wouldn't race at.

The biggest ever event was Chatsworth, so much for lurchers to choose from.

PETERBOROUGH IS MY FAV.

I WON THE BRITISH SUPREME LURCHER CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2004,WITH MY BLACK BITCH,SHAKIRA.

LAST YEAR SHE CAME JOINT RESERVE SUPREME CHAMPION,THE ONLY DOG TO HAVE EVER DONE THAT.

THE AUTUMN SHOW IS WORTH A VISIT.

CHATSWORTH IS ANOTHER FAV.

BOTH OF THESE SHOWS ARE A GOOD 10 OUT OF 10 FOR ME

Have to agree with you Darren, the "old shanes castle all-ireland" was a fantastic track..how many hundred yards ?

i reckon damn near 600 yds. straight track with only a minimal deep towards the end. some great races then wasnt there !

TULLYLISH AND NWWTLC @ DONEMANA. WERE THE BEST TWO.

I BOYCOTTED BALLYWALTER

MOIRA WAS TOO HOT

SHANES CASTLE WAS A WASH OUT.

ANNAGHMORE CHANGED DATES AND WAS NOT AS GOOD AS PREVIOUS YEARS.

BALLLYMACAD WAS DISAPOINTING BUT HAS POTENTIAL.

I NEVER GOT TO FLORENCECOURT.

LAURENCETOWN D. MACKIN SHOW WSS NOT ONE

NORTH DOWN DISBANDED AND HAS NO SHOW SHAME REALLY AS THE ONE I HELPED AT WAS GOOD TWO YEARS AGO.

NORTH DOWN HUNT HAD NO SHOW PREVIOUS TWO YEARS WERE GOOD

I HAVE BEEN CHATTING TO A FEW LADS AND IN NEXT YEAR OR THE YEAR AFTER I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A GO MYSELF AND RUN A SHOW.

I AM HOPEFULLY GOING TO THE MIDLAND GAME FAIR SO THAT WILL BE AN EYE OPENER FOR ME.

YOU WERE NOT AT TULLYLISH OR DONEMANA THIS YEAR. THERE WAS A BIG CONCENSUS THAT TULLYLISH WAS A MUCH INPROVED SIM COURSING ASK YOUR FRIENDS IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME.

Sorry Darren i thought you meant just in Ulster. The best sim coursing ive ever seen was at Belvoir Castle last year run by Lurcherworld. a cracking course which changed shape after each round. each marshal knew exactly what to do and it ran like clockwork. Tatton Park also had a brilliant simo too which ran a circle type shape down into a valley and around a hill and back to finish.

Lurcherworls Jeff always commentates on the racing which adds another dimension, they always seem to get a good long track too. Earlier in the year at Monmouth in Wales the track was one of the longest ive raced on the mainland, that along with the Midland Gamefair....thats what i like to run mine over.

im dreading this 120 yd effort at Chatsworth.

Down South of Ireland a few months back was the best ive seen here for a 32 dog stake..open to anything with 4 legs..dogs slipped in pairs up a 300 yd hill with the Ulster dogs doing well.

My usual old cry is that the estates just wont make the effort to help the Lurcher clubs out. my opinion is they begrudgingly allocate an area for racing and showing....bastards

john...with the woofers not looking forward to 120yds @ Chastworth :( :(

Best racing ive been at this year has to be PORTLOISE,where the racing was pure class, though i was bitterly disapointed that my Trouble bitch broke a toe in her back foot, which we think ,might have happened in the 1st round. She still went on to win her 2nd heat, but it was then that we knew summit wasn't right with her,and pulled her out.In the past,it was deffo the old Shane's Castle run,Where you had to have a dog capable of running up to 5, 540 odd yrd runs,to become All Ireland Racing Champion, which mine did 7 years in a row.I think my last one was the one that stands out the most to me,where Tarn was interfered with for over 1/2 the race,(FINAL),and had to make up 12 lengths,to win her 4th All Ireland,at the grand old age of 7n1/2.As far as a show goes,it would be hard to beat Donemana.Worst show ever,Moira, and it's getting no better.
