every stud dog has its fair share off good offspring as does the bitches not too many stud dogs to choose from nowadays compred to a few year back but still quality

Litter mates Wor John and Sunlight didn't do to bad, joking aside, but the true legends have to be Good as Gold, Mr Benn, Sing on, Marillion and Wor Lad dogs we can all trace back in todays pedigrees there are lots of good brood bitches but bitches like Dessie, Kerry's dream, her indoors homebird and (Beangorme not sure of spelling) and many more left their mark that are consistently traced back in today's top racers

If your particularly bored you can do a bit of calculating via the BWRA website. I did a search for a particular dog, click on reverse pedigree then tot up the amount of dogs registered and the amount with titles. Subtract the amount with titles from the amount registered, times by 100 and you'll get a rough percentage of what the dog or bitch threw as champions.

There plenty of faults with it mind! for one, the outcomes of some dogs are unknown and I could see plenty of names that people have raved about that never got a title, furthermore your only calculating it's first generation of offspring. For younger broods and studs it's a bit unknown as there are dogs and pups running that may well get titles in the future but it is a little interesting when looking at dogs in the past. There's also the hugely relevant fact that it takes 2 dogs to produce puppies however the more pups produced gives you more accurate staistics.

few examples I took from dogs mentioned on here:

Country Music 84 dogs registered of which 13 gained titles (15% incidence of a title winner)

Tyrone 128 dogs registered of which 26 titles (20% incidence of a title winner)

Took one look at Mr Benn's and decided that he'd of been a very happy stud dog cos his offspring went on forever!!!! (w00t)

Broods are a lot easier as there's a lot less counting!!

Off the top of my head I used Homebird 22 dogs registered of which 9 titles (41% incidence of a title winner)

Paloma currently has an incidence of 50%, I wouldn't be surprised if this went to 100% in the future but without further litters, it's a bit unknown how well she threw 'statistically' but it's a certainty that she threw very well to Just Friends. :thumbsup:

I wouldn't use it as a means of reconing my next choice of stud dog as it's meerly a quantity analysis rather than a quality one. Just like the other thread rating the best dogs, I think it's more important to look at all the factors at that period of time before making a decision and to do that well you've got to be there watching a dog over time through it's career. :thumbsup:
