Hi, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who replied to my post "Anorexia in my Lurcher". Unfortunately we had to have Billy put to sleep today as he had had cancer all along and it had mestastised into his lungs. Unfortunately none of the vets had listened to my concerns about his eating and other symptoms until it was too late. I'm posting this in the hope that anyone with a similar problem (ie unexpected heart beat followed by lack of appetite) will be able to direct their vet to look at the other symptoms and get the vet to check the prostate and testicles. If we had had a scan six weeks ago Billy might still be here.

I'd also like to say that all of the advice proved to be helpful, and even though he was really porly, his appetite had picked up and at least he was eating and had some quality of life. Thanks again.

PS I am changing vets for my other dogs as this is the second dog that has been misdiagnosed.

So sorry to read this.

RIP Billy - so sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure if this will give you any comfort or not, we have recently lost our lovely old Collie/lurcher in similar circumstances - our vet found her cancer within 4 days of her becomming ill, it had also progressed to her lung and was inoperable. It was so quick; on Thursday night she was scoffing pigs ears, Friday she went off her food and the following Tueday she was pts. Perhaps the outcome would have been no different if the vet had found it sooner. :(

Very sad, Wishing your pain is replaced by fond flash backs of Billy quickly.
