well, its quite simple :D leave a young dog unattended for 5 seconds in the kitchen, while not realising the dog in question has figured out how to open cupboard doors. then, upon your return, you will find at least one cleaning item with the top chewed enough for the contents to leak rather badly. luckily, the heavy duty stuff is up high because of the kids, but amber now leaves my washing up liquid alone

just have to figure out how to stop dante turning the toilet paper into confetti  he loves the stuff!

Kim, check out this link to FAQ: Click Me

Scroll down to section 3. SEASONS and you'll find lots of really good links to previous questions very similar to yours. There are even pics which a kind K9 member has posted so that you can see the difference between "in season" and "not" which I personally found very helpful

You'll find whippets keep themselves very clean, and as others have said, use a lot of throws over furniture which can be washed. I found the second season was a LOT easier to manage than the first, which was a bit messy.

I think Tilly is on/in heat, she is grumpy  and following me about, she keeps licking her bits  :b which are a little swollen, every now and again she drips some fluid which smells a bit fishy  :x but not loads.

And to day a male took quite a fancy to her, not that she seemed to mind (i didnt let him do any thing) :- "

Does it sound like shes in heat?

Oh she is 10 months old

As you can see i posted this at the end of Dec, we are no almost at the end of Jan, is it normal for her to still be bleeding/in season?

I know it lasts for about 3 weeks and i wasnt to sure of the beginging so it could be before this, thought not after

just some info would be good

Kim

I think that the first season can be longer than normal so I wouldn't worry  Poor little Tilly though :( give her a hug from me.

Josie went on for a while the first time, about 4 weeks I think, and was VERY attractive to males for about another 2-3 weeks after that

Second time was very different, much lighter and shorter, although she was still obviously a bit gorgeous for our local boys for another fortnight. A lot of drooling lads, and quick exits from the park for us

I got told off by one bloke cause i had taken her out for a walk when she was in season...

she was on a lead, his dog wasnt, and he was having a go at me....

You have a perfect right to walk you bitch, it is his responsibility to control his dog.

BUT, unless you want to have all the local dogs camped in the front of you house, never walk her out of your property while she is attractive to dogs. Drive to the park or at least carry her some distance from your place.

Give her a bath when she has finished to get rid of any traces of her "in season" smell.
