Finn and Tyg can't seem to run far in the fields without stopping for a boxing match. It's better when Tyg is chasing Finn as he can't catch him easily, but their preferred game is Finn, who is by far the fastest, chasing Tyg, which means frequent bouts of mock fisticuffs which can get quite rough. So many K9 folk seem to post pics of their dogs actually running together as opposed to engaging in some kind of whippety contact sport that I'm wondering if my two are taking things to extremes.

Ruby and Star tackle each other all the time, it usually starts out as a game of chase, which ends up with rugby tackles and fisty cuffs, (never nasty though, always play)

not very good examples but i cant be bothered to dig through all the photos :-

i would say this sort of activity takes up at least 50% of our walks,

never having seen dogs do it before, then meeting a lady with 2 collies doing it, after talking to her she told me they were litter mates, and she had only seen her two do it untill she saw mine, so we both put it down to them being from the same litter and being brought up together.

if thats right, it maybe just shows what a special bond your boys have?

Albus used to like boxing with Diesel. It used to get quite noisy at times although there was never any nastiness with it. It was just good play.

It could well be a litter mate thing - Roscoe and Grover do it as well!

My Hula and Scout were not litter mates but they were quite close in age and did the boxing thing all the time with much noise as well (w00t)

Mine don't box but Connie does use Emmy to refine her coursing technique. Chases her and knocks her over with her front legs and then goes for the neck lock. Only thing is now Emmy is getting older and more knowing Connie gets the hump and runs off if Emmy does it to her!

Mine all course each other (w00t) ....... 2 rolls equals a submission as far as I can work out :clown:

They do run together if the mood takes them

My boys do it a lot - Diego is much faster than Logan but like your two Annie it always seems to be the quick one chasing the slow one, so not much of a chase!

The 4 youngsters all do it when they are playing but mostly the twins do it to each other.

William does it too but not when he's playing with other dogs he does it usually when he plays with OH. I have though of signing him up in the kick boxing classes that Ben goes to. :D

yep, the brothers Oscar and Eskil too, and Eskil does it with Popsy, though Popsy takes it the wrong way and gets a bit amorous :-

Sidney and Ben do it all the time, it is their way of playing... though saying that, if Ben wont stop when Sid tells him he has had enough, it can get a little heated and then we step in :clown:

Alfie and Verity (who are littermates) love boxing- I have posted this pic before, but it is the best I have of them boxing

Yep mine do it too! :) The roughness of it usually depends on how in season Pimms is, it gets quite vocal! She definately plays a lot rougher when she is due to come in season or is in season. Poor Casper normally ends up crying to be released...

Mine do some great wrestling type moves, this involves trying to take out the others back legs...or trying to turn the other over...it is great to watch. :)
