On Sunday November the 6th , We will be holding a breed seminar for any one wanting to learn more about our breed . It will be held at Roade Village Hall , Roade Northants , . Situated just off the M1 junction 15 . so is easy to get to .

We are having two speakers, Pam Marston-Pollock ( Falcongrag ) and Jo Davies ( Taraday ), followed by a `hands on`. For those of you who don't have a clue what I'm on about this is what happens,

The Midland Whippet is running the Seminar

We have 5 groups of 6 people who each `go over' and assess the merits of 5 different dogs. Each dog has a C C giving judge who listens and corrects wherever and whenever needed .

The dogs are then moved .

Each person, on paper, places ithe 5 dogs in prefential order , writing why A beat B etc.

No one's opinions and scores are made public , it is purely a learning curve . Our aim is to encourage new people to learn more about the breed . So many people today go home after their class/classes if they are not placed and don't stay to watch the rest of the judging. I know we all have busy lives, but so much can be learnt by watching and listening to other peoples comments (even when they are not always right )

It should be a good day . :D A buffet lunch is included for the price of £15.00 . Places are limited to 30 people for more info and application form ring me on 01159 877923

The East Anglian Whippet are doing the `Assesment`side for judges wishing to progress , For more info email,,,,,,,,,,, beadseller @aol.co.uk Cathy Brown The price for that is £25.00 and limited to 5 people , Lunch again will be included

thanks Jackie for publicising this Seminar. Just to reiterate that the assessments being run by the East Anglian Whippet Club are for B list judges who are getting near to awarding CCs. This is the assessment that you need as a part of your application to be put on an A2 list. It involves a written examination on the standard and judging a class of 5 whippets. Candidates will be examined by three experienced assessors. Those who pass will receive certificates that can be used in your applications to be included on judging lists. The two sections are examined separately.

Some clubs will require that you have passed both for the A2 list.

We have 6 places available only as the assesment will take most of the afternoon.

Those attending will also get the chance to listen to two excellent and experienced speakers in Pam and Jo. The price is £25 including lunch. To apply please write to Alayna Morland, 7 The Causeway, Thurlby, Bourne, Lincs, PE10OLD

When I first read this I thought it said Pammy was talking FAST

Hope it goes well for you and am sure everyone attending will learn something.

As part of SYWC team who have put these seminar/teach-in's on for several years I always come away knowing more and appreciating the breed more than before the day began.

Just let me know and both of you can have a place.

:D It was well worth the 8 hours round trip, it was a great day. I definitely thought Pams talk was so interesting and Jo Davies was great too, a lovely lady! The hands-on really helped put all the theory into practice as well, a brilliant day - well done to all the organisers

I thought it was a really great day- it's the first seminar I've been to and I learned a lot!

The talks were fascinating, and the hands on session was really helpful too- poor Alfie and Mabel had to act as my 'victims' when I got home- I made sure I checked they both had pear shaped heads - never thought of it like that before! :- "

Thanks for a great day to all the organisers- I'm just glad I didn't have to take the assessment- that looked a bit intense!
