Hi,

I am hoping that someone will be going Lure Coursing on Sunday who might be able to help me out. Just thought it was worth explaining and trying to sort something out before Sunday.......

Ollie has had a puppy trial with BSFA and I am hoping to run him on Sunday after a trial but would really like to run him as a pair.

He has had four racing trials and is completely focussed on the lure, so I am not worried about that side of things. It's just that Jake was possibly the poorest example of a whippet ever seen when he trialled (w00t) but I knew he would be.

When running he will always course Ollie and not the lure so no real suprises there :- "

This does leave me with a bit of a problem though, as I have no partner to run Ollie with, and would really love to give him this opportunity. If there is anyone out there who thinks that they might be able to help, please can you either post or pm me.

I will muzzle him if this makes a difference to people as he has been muzzled for his racing so this isn't a problem. I don't want to tempt fate, but I really don't think he will turn his head, but I understand it's better to be safe than sorry

Thanks in advance

Tracy

I might well be coming along - if so I am happy for Ollie to run with either of my two. They both ran with strange dogs last time and there were no problems at all (apart from one that luckily was muzzled as it tried to beat up Archie!)

Both of mine did pretty well and their best scores were only 0.5 point apart!

I will confirm back later - but hopefully should be able to make it on Sunday

Jo :D

Don't know if we're going yet - waiting to see if the vet passes him fit :sweating: :sweating: We're not paired up with anyone if we do go (every time I do arrange something in advance it invariably goes wrong!)

Thanks Jo,

I must admit, Ollie is unproven running with others, but as I said I will be more than happy to muzzle him if you prefer. I totally understand, as I wouldn't want Ollie beaten up either

Look forward to hearing back from you later

Amazing that they were only 0.5 points apart!

Thanks

Tracy

Hi Elizabeth, hopefully your vet will give you good news, and I definitely don't want to tempt fate, so might see you there :- "

WE'LL BE THERE WITH DIGGER. HE NEEDS THE RUNS. AS THE JUDGE STATED TO ME AND THE SURROUNDING GENERAL PUBLIC WHEN JUDGING HIM IN THE OPEN CLASS AT BRISTOL & DISTRICT SHOW THE OTHER SUNDAY " YOUR DOG IS OVERWEIGHT ! " STILL SHE PLACED HIM THIRD AND DID SAY THAT SHE WOULD HAVE PLACED HIM HIGHER BUT FOR HIS BEER BELLY :b SEE YOU THERE

Yep I'm definitely coming along... I'm perfectly happy for either of mine to run with Ollie and I'll just find a match for the other one!

Poor Digger - a beer belly - never!!

That's fatastic Jo, although now I am worried that you will have to find another partner :( so don't worry if it causes you a problem, I am sure that someone else will have a lone runner who might fancy a partner

Dessie and I will be there and I think we are taking five so there will be an odd one.

Plus Sarah said she may come along with Sid but only to watch :- " ;)

Millie,

Nice that you're coming, and even nicer if you have an "odd one" I didn't think that you would be there what with "Billy" being on the scene :- "

Sarah - How come Sid doesn't get to play then 8)

Don't worry Tracy about me having to find another partner - I don't like running mine against each other really as Archie is a bit dominant over little Stan and due to a few yobbish moves by Archie in the past, Stan is a bit wary about running in front of him! So this suits me just fine.

Have to say Archie is not like this with other dogs on the lure just with his little brother  :p

That'll be great if you have one of your gang 'spare' Wendy

We're still seeing how it goes, we'll check with the vet on Friday. He'll be off the Antibiotics by Sunday. But to be honest he's charging around without a care on the daily walks  so I think we'll probably be there.

Great Jo, and I know exactly what you mean about brothers :- " That's exactly why I can't run Jake, he'd probably cut himself to shreds on the line trying to grab Ollie's bum  He doesn't even see the lure :b

Looks like we're all going to have plenty of partners :- "

Forecast is 8' with some cloud and sunny spells, that'll do me, no rain (w00t)

His name is not Billy!!! If you must call him something it is His Little Fatness or Fatness for short!!! o:) :huggles: -_-

Stop worrying about everything Tracy, you'll be fine, your dogs will be fine, everyone else's dogs will be fine ................ just enjoy the day out and whether they run 'well' & score lots of points :) or not (and cut all the corners (w00t) ) they will enjoy themselves and THAT is the main objective.

And I still can't figure out why Sid is not allowed to have a go :b :( ........... that's another owner who worries about everything!!!

Chill out, let them do what Whippets want and need to do!!!

My problem will be one VERY sulky Rupert  !!!

I am hoping to come tomorrow, been meaning to try Mabel out lure coursing but she always seems to be in season!

Does anyone have a smallish Whippet or Lurcher that my Normie (IG) could have a fun run with at the end? Doesn't have to be timy as

He has lure coursed before and loved it, but I would love to see how he does with the competition of another dog to run with.

See you all tomorrow.
