I took Chloe and Busta out for a walk at Coombe Hill today and poor Busta slashed his pad open whilst running after his tennis ball. I'm not sure what he did it on but there was an awful lot of blood and it had me panicing for a few seconds until my brain kicked in and I applied pressure then cobbled together a dressing out of some kitchen roll in my pocket and created a makeshift bandage out of some poo bags knotted round the whole thing! It was like Blue Peter out there today No marks for finesse but it did the trick whilst I phoned the vet. The vet said he couldn't stitch pads so if I could clean it up myself and bandage it I could save myself the £100 call out charge for him to meet me at the vet hospital. I wasn't very confident about that as at first glance I'd assumed it definately needed the vet but I decided to whizz home clean it up and then make a decision. In the end I couldn't decide quite what products to use or how to tackle it so I called my greyhound trainer up and he talked me through exactly where the injury was and how big/deep then told me step by step what to do and what to use. He was brilliant! Busta is all bandaged up now with a dog bootie on over the top and luckily he's not trying to rip the bandage off yet. Phew...that was far too much excitement for a saturday afternoon. Chloe was brilliant throughout and waited patiently while we sorted Busta out. On a positive note today she was running around with Busta much more confidently pre-accident and having a whale of a time playing.
Yes that is Chloe chasing Busta and the ball...she's so fast! Please excuse the poor quality clip it was done on the mobile!
