Hi Jill,

It is a small world sometimes. Pencloe Dutch Gold is Busta's great great grandad on his dad's side.

£25 a throw for dressings sounds steep. The vet was pretty impressed with my bandaging and asked straight away if I was a horsey girl?....he said the large size vet wrap and the fact I'd used Animalintex dressing was a dead giveaway :D To be fair I have got a lot of experience of bandaging horses legs so I should be quite good but it's so much more difficult given the small size of a whippet's leg! I really hope I don't get too much more practice at bandaging dogs though. The vet has now given me some stock of the smaller width of vet wrap so I won't need to go back unless it doesn't heal or we have any other problems. I knew all my years of messing about with horses would pay off one day :D

Your horse experience certainly has paid off - I can imagine it must be a lot more difficult with a wriggling whippet though.

Just after I put that post on yesterday Merlin went outside to the loo and put his foot in the pond - therefore we were back up the emergency vets for a clean and dressing change - £135!!!! However, couldn't leave it as it was dirty water and also they said if the dressing gets wet it acts as a tornique.

PDG was Merlins great grandad if memory serves me corrected (wasn't he the only whippet that ever won crufts)?
