if that's all the pups that were there it's about time the bwra scrapped puppy racing ,and yearlings .

Agree somethings got to be done John  BWRA cant afford to buy all these trophies and pay the expenses of workers, when just 5 or 6 dogs turn up.Just been discussing the same thing with a mate.Came up with the idea of just running one championship for the youngsters a year.Calling it a Yearling Championship, and dogs eligable to run would be between 1 and 2 years of age. That way think all the youngsters would be covered.Make it a junior yearling for dogs between 1 and 18 months and senior yearling between 18 months and 2,with the scratch only being able to run in the senior yearlings. This gets rid of pups being run too young aswell

the one that turned up (w00t) puppy/yearlings champs very poor entry, is it worth bwra officials putting them selves out for half a dozen dogs ????????????

has anyone thouught there might not be that many pups and yearlings about? no pups yesterday and only 2 yearlings a lot may be too old to run yearlings and too young to run pups. those that ran in the yearlings in oct r too old now if u get me? no matter how old u make puppies ie if u say they cant race till theyre a year old or wotever u can still race them @ yr club younger than that. IMO its up to the individual when they start with their youngsters. JMO

See where your coming from Carole, thats why I said 1 championship for ages between 1 and 2.Split the championship into junior and senior yearlings, and every youngster between the age of 1 and 2 should be able to run.Not saying what should happen at club opens, just Championships.Yes i'm of the opinion that dogs shouldn't be run to young, but I wouldn't dream of pushing my views onto others. (w00t) Something really needs to be done,or think we face loosing pups and yearling champs altogether, like John has suggested

I would like to think owners have just felt their young 'un wasn't ready on the day. To me, I think those pups that are actually ready for racing are in an extreme minority. Yes it is disappointing to see any event get a poor entry but credit due to all those individuals who decided their pup / yearling wasn't quite ready for competitive racing.

It was a lovely day, no re runs and no injuries. Track was in excellent condition, racing went smoothly down the card and the food was fantastic. Thanks to the BWRA, Worcestor WRC and congratulations to the winners.

hi karen, i also see where your coming from but i personally dont think the scratch shud b any different to the yds for 1lb pups/yearlings when we ran mickey whizz there was no yearling scratch so he was straight in with the big boys @ 13 months old (cant remember puppy racing him but deffo club raced prior to this) i guess wot im saying is any dog of 12 months or over can race in the adults so if yearling/junior scratch was 18 months to 2 years i personally wud b racing in adults probably. of course this is JMO. on the plus side (if scratch was included prior to being 18 months) more people might club race their dogs 1st meaning clubs get busier and pups r more schooled etc. maybe this shud b a different topic? lol (w00t)

ANYWAY I WUD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE ALL WHO DID GET THEIR RESPECTIVE PUPPY/YEARLING TITLES WELL DONE TO ALL OF THEM AND I LOOK FORWARD TO THE RESULTS

I think the reason for the poor turnout was it was held too far south. All puppy & yearling champs should be held nearer the middle of the country i.e north notts , old hall, shirebrook etc. People can not afford to travel so far down the country, its time the Scottish people were taken into consideration.
