Id like to let everyone know I have been to the council and told them about what happened last Sat. and explained we have an open the Sunday. They sent there apologies to sue and family and have promised me the boulders while they can not be removed they will be moved as far back as poss. I have been today to buy some tarpaulin which will go along the top of the track. We will also put mesh behind as extra safety. They also said they would take the browser and water the top. Only problem they can only do it Fri. if we have sun like today at the weekend then the ground will still go hard again. I have done all I can do regards to safety and now we just have to pray for rain later on in the week.

cant do anymore than you have done shaz well done ;)

Thanks Sharon really looking forward to it

cant do any more than what you have done, cant control the weather unfortunately, lets all do the rain dance think all the tracks could do with it.

sharon might be able to get 1300 gall spread sat late pm,contractor asked is the a pond near To track so he could fill it with large pipe and he wouldnt have to fill from a tap also transporting it around 12 mile, his tractor run on white. not cheap

could find out a price could be £70ish could look into it. he gave me a price which was to much but he did say he would help.

if there where local pond he could put a couple of load on.

WOULD FOLKS EXCEPT £1 ONTO ENTRY TO OFFSET THE PRICE or cut prize money ,this would have to go through bwra as it is a bwra open . but dawdon track.

imo the dogs welfare must come first.

well done Sharon and Dave the members donated generously at Swallownest it covered the £150 it cost for the 3 bowsers I'm sure they will give willingly again maybe the raffle could go towards it as well won't be there myself but good luck to everyone

have you tried the fire brigade they were willing to do it at Swallownest at the end of a shift but just as they landed on the field they got a call out

There are no ponds near to the track. Exept the big one you can see coming down the road.lol. don't think the salt would help though. :p

I personally think that if the track is going to be watered on the friday night then that should be enough. Just wondering what knock on effect this might have for other venues around the country especially in light of the fact that it's going to be summer soon ( if we have one!)

Are racers going to expect all tracks to be watered before racing? Was it done in the years gone by when people have raced? Think it's all going a little mad...................and I for one don't want to add a pound to entries every time i want to race my dogs, it's too bloomin expensive a hobby as it is :(

And before people jump down my throat for sounding like i don't care about my dogs i think there are far worse dangers that dogs face other than dry tracks, most of them contrived by their owners, not the tracks.

can u explain this more rob

I think watering tracks has always been a concern since I started racing and whilst it may be an inconvenience, I do think it's greatly appreciated. (I remember Vicky taking barrels of water up to the Gin Pit track in her car one year) :sweating:

There may be far worse dangers out there in racing but it makes sense to keep those risks that we do have control over at a minimum. Those dangers that you say are contrived by owners we as a majority, probably have little contol over unless people speak out about it but until then we have to hope that such individuals stop for a moment and consider the risk they're putting their dog at.

Coming back to The Lord Byron,

I think Sharon and Dawdon's club members have behaved impecably, recognising potential problems and taking action as soon as possible for the benefit of us all racing (as have the vast majority of other racing clubs leading up to hosting an event) We all are grateful to all these clubs and the hard work they do and I hope they are all rewarded with big attendances and compliments of our appreciation.
