I think its highly disgusting that certain member on here are calling swallows nest track when they have never been to a event on there this year...

If i recall back to last year just after the august championships neither the BWRA or the NWRF had a weekend venue .....

The NWRF committee spent alot of time, effort and our own money on finding this camping venue for our members, as near to the center on the country as possible.

What is been said now was already said at the beginning of this year before both our weekend events and both went without any hick-ups i would say, i never seen any dogs seriously injured or hurt...the comments on here sound a little like sore grapes to me

Quite a few BWRA members that don't live far from swallows nest have been over to view the track this week and have given reports back TO SAY THE TRACK IS FINE, i am sure these members also put there dogs safety first and wouldn't say other wise if it wasn't true.

If this it the attitude of some people to-wards this venue why not get off your backsides and go look...

Ken has never been to Swollows nest  thats true, he was not bringing the venue down he said it needed more work on it. Someone did get off there backsides and go and look at the track for us, and this is what we based our vote on. We do hope the track gets lots of rain and its a great weekend. All Ken was saying is 2 tracks in perfect racing contion have been voted out which made no sence to him or me. We all have an opinion be it good or bad. For whats its worth I still agree with piglet.

if anybody thinks the track at swallowsnest is not safe to run there dogs on DON'T run them. remember the first couple of year at asfordby it was'nt the best track but the majority still ran there dogs on it.
I did just that at swallowsnest classic and didn't enter my dog after seeing the track, have no problems with doing it again.

stop spitting your dummy its been voted on just as you said about bend champs thats that :- " im sure the track will be fine have u or any other member moaning in here looked at it mmmmmmmmmm :) im not playing cos the vote didnt go our way thats what it sounds like :( give it a chance for gods sake if its not safe i will be the first not to run my dogs everyone should be grateful they have somewhere for champs but its always the bloody same  in a way i wish the vote had gone another way because the moaners will be hoping something wont be right :( i would travel anywhere if i wanted to race a dog there are a lot worse tracks around and without facilities like they have at swallowsnest

my last post on this , you know full well I could not go to Scotland Dee , but it never stops Ken he loved it at Scotland last year. So if he wanted he would travel. It wouldnt be the first time hes had to go on his own as you well know. As we have said we hope all goes well for the bwra. And all racers have a good weekend. Whats negative about that.

wasnt dee it was me pauly just speaking my mind like u no hard feelings :)

for one im not spitting my dummy out and two the vote didnt go the way i voted but so what it was my vote i done what i thought was right. i am grateful that the bwra got somewhere to have the champs, the facilities are good and im sure there is worse tracks gaz. but after reading this i had doubts.

les windles post in other topic

It was myself and Lynda that went to Swollownest to look at the track, altough there is a good covering of grass the people who look after the ground have sliced the surface of the whole field about an 1'' deep so there are lines across the track so we need rain to close them up, if this happens the track should be ok,the football training was going on while we were there across the track the chap in charge said the legue starts in August. THIS IS HOW I SEE IT AND NOT AN OPPINION OF WHERE THE CHAMPS SHOULD BE I ALSO OFFER MYSELF AND MOWER IF NEEDED. LES WINDLE.

but my concern is the 1" inch gaps like i said before and the fact that footballers are playing on it, nothing else not where it is or what the facillities are like. if the champs werent at swallownest and morton was voted in what wud be the first question people would ask??

WHAT IS THE TRACK LIKE?

hope swallowsnest track is superb and we have a great championships good luck everyone!

Why all the fuss it will be flooded most likely by the time its needed -----

surely the great british weather wont let us down---- if it is not fit to run on--- common sense says cancell it ---run it later in year wheres the problem with that--

its a bit like the Hall Green Saga and time problem----- did not exist on the day

lets have a few facts put right

nobody other than myself or di has spoken to an official comitee member

regarding footballers at swallows nest

football recommenses the second week in september and as of 19th july no

fixture list had been applied for

the only people using the field at the moment are 9 and under wearing

trainers

the running surface was sliced and aereated at swallows expense to aid new

growth and help whippet racing

south yorkshire members have volunteered their services to work on the track

and help provide the best running surface we can

please dont knock what you havent seen

yours in sport

:D andrew if you read les windle's post it says WE NEED RAIN TO CLOSE THE GAPS UP, there are volunteers who live close by who are giving there time up to go and water the track so if there is no rain from now untill the championships the gaps will have closed up. it's like the hall green saga i was against the venue and the time scale involved so i DID'NT go problem solved for me :- " :D

Not once has everyone agreed on a venue, be it straights or bends - so why everyone kicks off yet again i don't know. Everyone is going on hear say of what the track is like as with the "saga" of Hall Green, causing a commotion which will probably be over something and nothing when the day comes round.

The members have voted for this venue but there is one thing that is being overlooked and it is of great importance. Should the lovely dry/sunny weather continue and we do not have any rain and a "hose pipe ban" is in force how will the ground/track get watered!!!!!!! :(

I am not being critical of this venue but thinking ahead because of the weather - just something that should be considered as other areas already have hose pipe bans in place.

correct BUT the further north you travel the less chance of a drought and hose pipe ban.

There is greater chance that moreton in marsh will have a hosepipe ban.

if that is the case scotland guarantee rain and no hosepipe ban.

Golf course greens are 'hollow tined' this is the same as slicing 1" gaps in the ground, as previously stated this will infact help the surface, as long as its watered, this will benifit racing for the future!!!!! and heals over quickly so you wont even know it was there! Also sanding seeding/ soil can be done, as was done at the last champs and this worked well. I think people really do need to stop being so negative and picking up on minor niggles, every track has its problems but the effort is being made to iron out the creases in swallowsnest for the benifit of the majority of racers. Be grateful you have dogs to worry bout running haha, i dont!!
