Anyone able to recommend some perhaps fairly remote camp sites where we could take our pack of five without causing too much upset...preferrably somewhere without kids (w00t)

just after recommendations where a whole pack won't upset people too much.

we're a very doggy family so somewhere with loads of walks nearby would be cool :)

I'm obviously very biased but we own a small campsite and you would be very welcome. The pub next door allows dogs inside and we are close to some great walks.

I'll PM you the web address.

I can't recommend Hollybush Park enough

Lesley is right, the owners are a bit odd  but they are just as lovely as their dogs  :huggles: (w00t)

It's a lovely site, in a really nice area (loads of great walks for the whippets) and the welcoming cup of tea is the best part. Nothing like being handed a cuppa when you're up to your eyes in tent pegs / caravan levelling / mass whippets just dying to run over to say hello to Rae's tribe (w00t)

.............it's a bit like owning whippets, one trip is never enough :- "

No, no no Rae, you've got your tactics all wrong

What you need to do is erect a fake tree. When  Kane  runs into it, he fall into a secret passageway leading to the field next door where I grab him and bundle him into a van ;) (w00t) 8)

Come at the same time as us Tracey , then you can have him after he's been out for his walk, that boy can find mud on a dry day   o:)

I can reccomend Great Langedale campsite (National Trust) in the lake district ( 30 mins from Ambleside). We went there for new year and took our two whippets. There are great walks from the campsite and both the pubs nearby are dog friendly. Most of the walking shops in Ambleside allow dogs in aswell. We had a great time.

great topic

ive not decided where we are going this year but it will be in the uk as im saving up to go to florida next year in my parents friends villa (w00t)

they do let it out and it is very very cheap so if anyone wants a trip to florida let me know and i will pass on details .

BUT would love more info on holidays in this country with dogs , pref a caravan as i hate tents im afraid :( and i do have children , we usually go to butlins / pontins type but would love to go somewhere where kids can be entertained ( 8 & 11 yrs )

but also lovely countyside where i can take dogs

I would recommend Rae's campsite, like mentioned great walks and lovely people, you cant go wrong. And some great Fudge you can buy eh Lesley :- "

We also found a campsite called Fforest Fields in Buith Wells, Mid Wales which was family orrientated and allowed dogs, set in some amasing scenery with great walks.

Both are Fab and defo worth a visit

We went to Pendine Sands holiday park in South Wales (not far from Tenby) a couple of years ago. It's a 'typical' caravan site, with entertainment for the children, swimming pool etc, but it's also just over the road from Pendine Beach which is seven miles long and fantastic for dogs. Plenty of other brilliant beaches and walks in the area, too.

Lots of people with dogs there, but I think there is a limit of two dogs per caravan.

You kill me Lesley (w00t)

Do let me know once you decide as it would be so cool to meet up with the Spryers. Whilst we stayed there last year, we went racing at the polo club near Taunton. What a lovely day we had, really nice people and a very relaxed atmosphere

Edited to say I had to delete all the smilies because "You have posted a message with more emoticons that this board allows. Please reduce the number of emoticons you've added to the message" Scary!!!

could this thread be added to the FAQ please?

We're hoping on doing some camping with the dogs this year, particularly for some of the shows down south.

Will check out some of the suggestions!
