Hello

Can anyone help? my mum has a beautiful 6 month old whippet but she has severe health problems (heart) and after visiting the veterinary college this week it has ben shown that she may not have much longer. My mum is devastated and is considering finding a rescue whippet as company for 'Baby' and because she has loved having her and can't imagine any other breed. She would prefer an older bitch as Baby can't run about with another little one! She is at home all day and has a garden, she lives in Essex. If anyone has any ideas I will pass them on to her. Thank you

Oh, I'm so sorry - that is heartbreaking :( Poor little Baby.

I'm afraid I can't help but I hope you can find a companion for Baby very soon and I will keep it in mind in case I hear of a suitable whippet :)

Lots of luck and best wishes to you :luck: :luck: :luck: :huggles:

Essex. She is a real sweetie and everyone that meets her falls in love with her! Mum can't walk down the street without people making a fuss of her! She is tiny, about 5 kg, bless her.

Sorry to hear about Baby.Cannot help but hope she finds a companion soon :luck:

I am so sorry to hear about your mum's little dog. Please don't despair just yet. I was told the same thing about my little whippy boy Harvey Moon by a vet. He was very small and had severe heart problems also. She actually told me to go home and love him as she could do nothing for him and that he would die very soon. Needless to say I changed vets that very day. My new vet was fantastic and really worked at looking for the correct medication etc. I fed him fresh chicken or mince and veg (anything without salt to avoid water retention). He was never pushed to overdo it running wise and my other whippy Louie sensed that he was weaker so played accordingly. Harvey Moon was loved and cherished by me and my mum and knew that he was spoilt rotten. He lived to be 5 years old. Very young in normal terms but longer than expected. I was devastated when he went to rainbow bridge due to complications with draining his tummy and still kiss his pictures every day and sleep with his coat and favorite teddy every night. Me and Louie miss him so much but at least I had the pleasure and priviledge to be his mummy for 5 years. I hope that this gives you and your mum some comfort and hope. Keep searching for help. Best wishes.

Sorry about your little baby, hope you find one soon :luck:

Thank you for your kind replies, a k9'er has put my mum in touch with someone and we are keeping our fingers crossed!

I will keep you posted.

May be worth asking for a second opinion & a referral to a heart specialist

A Cardio Specialist maybe able to get her on a good medication that would give her more time.

Such a pretty little girl & so beautifully marked, lots of luck with your little angel :luck: :luck:
