i was reading the post for that fastest on the fens day,im a bit confused though its not hard lol.surely if you have a pedigree for your dog its then pedigree or do you register greyhound whippets fro both pedigrees or how does it work,i dont race really im a bull lurcher man (w00t) so its all a bit confusing to me can someone shed some light

pedigree whippets are mostly k.c reg bred of the show type dog but do also race in pedigree whippet racing clubs

the non ped whippet has been bred over many years purely for speed having quite a lot of greyhound in there lines size shape and colour is of no importance if they can run

all dogs are registered with the bwra and nnwrf where all parentage are recorded over many years hope this helps

so i can register a litter of first crosses if i have the parents or is it just lines already established

I don't know if you read but I did a split from the fastest of the fens topic as others were asking similar.

Like I said there, the best thing would be to race the dog at a club first. It would be pointless chasing registration if the dog isn't fast enough to compete because you maybe required to proove the breeding of the dog to rule out that it isn't a pure bred greyhound.

can't see why not but they must be of whippet type and the nnwrf and bwra would probably need more details of the parents if they are unknown in the non ped world

thanks stallion for that,i was just wondering about it all sort of get the picture now

no probs think what jackie said is the best advice to anyone wanting to start racing go to a local club where you would get help and advice

Here in Northern Ireland if it looks like a whippet it squats like a whippet the owener claims it is a whippet there fore it must be a whippet I have seen dogs which I would say were 22 inchs plus on the same start line a wee bitches 19 inches

i go to the sporting whippet club racing when its on as i enjoy it but was just confusedd about the whole registering of non peds

ive not read all topic josh

but as for non ped clubs,,,,the fondation rule was --- if ur dog was off whippet apperance and smooth coated ,,,and in weight requires ,,,u can run your dog,,,if i,e u became a member and ur dog passed its passes running against another dog,,,i,e ur dog ran true & as most clubs ask jag papers

but now with the new breeding rule,,,,it makes it diffrent,,,,,but the 1st rule as far as i know still applys ,,,as it was one off the 1st rules,??????? even i get confused lol

but bottom line if u cant join bwra/nnwrf ,on breeding rule and reg as pup,,,,,,u can still run at clubs / derbys and club held opens,,,no probs
