Hello, my dog is due to be neutered. At12 months. Any good advice for the post op? I know he's going to chew his way through the collar it being plastic which he seems to enjoy. I hope his diet does not need to change, not sure what to expect. Thank you

You can get alternatives to the plastic cone - soft cones, inflatable neck rings (like the cushions travellers use) or surgical suits like babygros. The main thing is he shouldn't be able to reach the wound.

My dog's diet never changed. If it's putting on weight that concerns you, keep an eye on his body condition and adjust his food and exercise if you need to.

That's really helpful, I will ask the vet if they have those. I know that other forum users have had some behavioural issues so just hope that we'll come out OK. He's very lively but doubt it will be too much more hyper haha. Thank you

Neutering op all OK. It is a little bit thunder for now but there will come a rainbow , dogs are ace so strong and admirable.
