well went out side at about 8oclock and after calling for about 10sec here come jam up the path took me about 2mins to get him close enough to be sure i could get him. and i got him and took him into the kitchen.

i said to my Oh im 100% its jam it look just like jam eyes marking everything just skinnyer.

he wasnt comvinced i said well lets just check its a boy and then that might half convince you. so he pick her up and we look and to my shock its a girl

i can not belive it i am honestly in shock she is jams double in every way.

i couldnt just put her back out, it must have been fate that she would come to me looking so much like my cat as if had been any other i probabily would have just ignored it and left it alone.

my little girl said her name would be sophie

she has about 10 bold patches with sores and scabs all over the back of her neck just below the collar. (i looked up ring worm on the net thismorning and it didnt look anything like that) it looks like it has been pulled out.

she has some lumps on the front of her neck where a collar has been, lumps around the ears not sure if they are ticks or what.

my sis-in-law is a vet assistant and she talked us through on the phone to check gums teeth claws bum, and all seems fine.

she didnt touch the cat food and only ate some ham and a bit of cheese, no water.

my oh said it wasnt fair to keep her when now no we are complete starngers to her so he has just spent about 25mins tracking down the sspca to see if they could come get her. i was more than happy to keep her and take her to the vets in the morning but he thinks i would get far to attached and then i would want to keep her. an i know hes right. :'(

anyway about 10mins ago the man came to take sophie away :'( :'(

i am completley and utterly gutted :'(

im not to sure whats worse the fact that i thought it was jam and now its not so im left wondering where he is or the fact that someone can let their cat get to that state and its came to me for help and now been taken away.

i know its best for her as she will get the proper treatment and hopfully they will find her a good home but i just feel really sad now shes gone.

anyway sorry for going on.

not that it matters now as shes gone but i took some pics

Katie, why do you feel the need to appologise for going on, it just shows us k9ers that you are a caring person for your animals.

keith the reason i appologise is that i get told off twice a week in college for rambaling on :( if i fail english it will be because i have rambled on an on so much and then run out of time :(

i have trouble shortening things, so when i looked at that post before i posted it i thought oh my its huge, sorry. its just a habbit :b

poor you :(

why not speak to the SSPCA and ask if you can pop your name against the lovely puss-cat when all treatment etc is finished?

maybe this cat was meant to be yours

good luck x

i would jump at it in a minute, "but we are getting a puppy in 5weeks and it just wouldnt be fair" (this is my OH speaking by the way)

but after a pm this morning from a lovely k9er ;) i googled lost cat edinburgh and found a missing family pet that has been gone nearly 2 weeks and matches the description almost perfectly, and is only 3miles away. so i have emailed them to see if she is still missing. so hopefully if it is her, if i have helped them find her i can be a bit happier about it. :)

Oh, that would be a happy ending ... but even if she isn't their cat, you've still helped her on the road to a better life so you should feel good about that.

couldnt help it and i phoned the sspca they said she was ok and that they give 7days for strays to be claimed and then they rehome them. but i would not be eligable as they never rehome cats to the area they were found incase someone turns around and says "thats my cat" :(

so shes gone :'(

i just hope this person looks at there emails soon to see if its her :(

that story reminds me of my mate when i was 15. Their cat Grot had disappeared for over a year, before coming back again. The whole family welcomed her back and set about de-miting her and feeding her up. It wasn't til I pointed out that at some point on her adventure Grot had 'grown a pair' that they conceded that this wasn't actually their cat!

They still kept him, but from then on he was known as Not-Grot!

Lets hope your little foundling finds herself some nice new people - you definitely did the right thing by her - the life of a stray cat is generally short and painful, she is now with people who will help her to recover and look for someone to love her

i hope she is the families cat, that would be nice  i know you feel sad but what you did was a really good thing :huggles:

Sophie is sooooo pretty

I really hope that she gets the comfy, loving home she deserves

Well done you, for helping her :huggles:
