Hello,

Really random, I know, apologies!!

Has anyone ever done catalogue delivery, like avon or betterware?

Just hunting for jobs and all are rubbish!

I want to do my teaching assistant qualification but need to have a voluntary placement while I do it and earn enough money to pay bills, mortgage and eat!

Just thought that delivering catalogues might fit in, but don't know if it would earn me enough.

Thanks!

Good luck finding something that will fit around your course and placement. It's exciting (and scary) starting a new course so good for you :luck: :luck: :luck: Sorry, haven't ever tried any jobs like these so not sure how much you could earn but I guess, as long as they don't ask for any start up fee from you, then there's nothing to lose.

Thanks, it is very scary!

But I want to be happy so need a change.

Had problems with my boss before summer hols and now had time off with Poppy and had so much fun and time to think, puts things into perspective really.

But sometimes it seems impossible!

i think the amount you can earn all depends on the amount of houses you do, its all based on commision, my friend does it and the most she has ever earned was about £150 a month

she finds it quite time consuming as alot of the time people arent in and she has to keep going back to collect the catologues and to drop things off..........

I tried Avon once and spent ages trailing round trying to get the

payments in and then i used all my earnings on smellies

Don't know how much you want to be earning per week-but I know most schools really find it tricky to fill lunchtime posts-dinner ladies/lunchtime supervisors-

does your school where you are doing your voluntary placement need such staff?

School cleaners are another job difficult to fill-

I think you'd be looking at £50-£60 + your lunch thrown in. + it's another insight/bit of experience working with children in a different setting.

Then theres Ebay! for topping up your funds..........de-clutter and make some cash.

How about working in your local pub?

That was always how I made some extra cash - good fun too!

Pubs are definitely the best way to earn extra cash

I think I used to earn more working in the local pub than I did in my day job at one stage (w00t)

Thanks for replies. Some great ideas there

Will post again when I am all sorted out! Hopefully in a couple of months

Karen-Coral is right, schools (here certainly) often find it hard to get playground/lunchtime supervisors and school taxi escort staff (these I would steer more toward as they would count as experience while you were being paid, whereas I think dinner lady and cleaner would be tentative but perhaps worth a go as its a foot in the door  ).

I also think its worth harassing someone currently working in a school in your local Education Authority directly to find out who deals with the supply register, get in touch with them, then get your name on the register, they will have you CRB checked and basically tick all their boxes (TA, Learning/behavior support, clerical etc...tick them all - again just looking for a foot in the door), once your on the register, go around all the schools you would consider working in and leave your name and number telling them you are on the supply list, perhaps your area is different, but I know in all the schools I've worked in its not been necessary for staff to have the actual qualification to work with kids as an assistant, just the aptitude :sweating:

Hope you do get sorted out :luck:

Sheena

BTW - Where I have seen Avon etc, work effectively is where I've worked places and another staff member is an agent for them - collecting the orders and delivering them to work (usually on pay day :p ).
