We watched a programme on Sky last night about getting your first puppy. The guy showed a Cavapoodle/Cavaloodle??? I assume a Cavalier/Poodle cross? It was adorable, with a fluffy, wavy coat plus golden/cream colour. Grew to the size of a Cavalier. Beauty and brains I suspect, as I know Poodles are very clever dogs.

Anyone have any experience on this breed cross??

Best wishes,

No - I have a 'jackapoo' Jack Russell x Poodle - I wouldn't get one with Jack Rusell in again...

There are some really cute crosses out there atm - more and more by the day but a lot seem to have behavioural issues...

I wonder if they were accidental or purpose bred and how much they are asking for them?

Hi I walk a Cavapoo (Cavalier x poodle) most days. He was bred deliberately and was a single puppy- as he has matured he looks more poodle than anything else. He is a lovely family dog, and his owners are very pleased with him. Personally I would prefer a pure- bred poodle from a health point of view- but temperament wise he seems faultless o:)

The problem with first crosses is that you just don't know what you're getting. You just don't know which bits of mum and dad you'll get in the mix, and as poodles can be challenging beasts, you could be dropping yourself in at the deep end

Let's face it, the only reason most of these crosses have come about is because it's a snigger to come up with a new dog name with 'poo' in it

We will get a poodle for our next dog - we love that bit in her....

Thanks folks - some interesting comments there! I don't know much about (nothing in fact!) poodles but my parents kept Cavalier King Charles and they were lovely little pets. Ideal for Mum and Dad but not as hardy as the whippet, of course!

I think the spring will see us adding to our household, meanwhile I am looking around to see what breed would be helpful for Jacques. I would love a lurcher but hubby thinks most are too big! The Cavapoo (love the pun by the way!) seems to be a good family dog with very little negative traits thus far. In my autumn years I am drawn to something fluffy and cuddly!!! :>

Best wishes
