Some one may have asked this before , But are all shows in Aus Chhampionship shows ? Are some where you get points towrads Champ. status ?

The number of open shows depends on the state. No points are available at Open Shows anywhere in Oz.

In NSW, where I exhibit, we don't have many open shows. Victoria has many more open shows - for trainee judges - probably because their judging scheme requires trainees to have judged a certain number of dogs to qualify for their scheme and application for a practical exam. I think Queensland and South Australia may be similar.

Probably the biggest problem here in Australia is we don't have consistent rules, regs and judges training schemes across the nation. :unsure: It can be confusing for some exhibitors when they go to shows interstate.

There are many exhibitors (in all breeds) who won't enter a show unless points are on offer and the forthcoming weekend is a prime example. They will go to an all breeds show rather than attend the pet expo and promote their breed. Much as I love dog shows, they shouldn't be the most important thing on anyone's calendar. :rant:

Yes - it is the same in Queensland.

Open shows are just that - open to everyone. You don't have to be a member of the Canine Control Council (Qld) to show at an open show and Champions can enter. We actually like Champions to enter because our trainee judges need to learn on Champion dogs as well as puppies.
