OK.....I'm authorised to let everyone know the 2015 WCRA Championships will be held at Hockers Lane, Maidstone

This venue hosted a NPWRA Championships which I believe was well attended.

The Nationals also held one of their championships on a bank holiday without any problem, lets hope all goes well for the WCRA at this new venue.

Gary,

What is the reason for this post?

Kind regards,

Andrew Ingley Race Manager NPWRA

Also what is this authorised crap?

Can I just say that as a veteran racer we will be very sad not to visit our friends from Scotland let alone watch any racing or join in like we have done before.

I do not understand why go so far down country as a more central position would attract more supporters surely?

But then what do I know only been in the hobby for 41 years.

the Wilsdons

well I do hope for all the best with the wcra but for me personally, its just too far I'm afraid. Maidstone is a 950 mile round trip for me.

they say that these championships are for the whole of the UK, it must be great for the local racers, impossible for the likes of me.

maybe I should be expected to fly.

there is a lot of dogs here in Scotland and the north of England, its the likes of this that will cause a divide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd have thought the reason was self evident Andrew

The "authorised" bit is because Garry isn't technically on the WRCA committee, but an "employee" if you like of the Whippet Club. Therefore he had to ask before posting, if it was ok to now release that information.

Although there have been rumours about the location in circulation for weeks, it was only finalised this week, which is why this official confirmation has only just been announced.

Regards

In answer to the suitability or otherwise of Maidstone as a venue for the Championships, I can only reitterate my Facebook post, and say that the WCRA were put in an impossible situation by the timing of Moreton Cricket Club's decision not to have us back next year.

And had there been 12 months notice instead of 12 weeks, then somewhere more suitable may have been sourced. But given the circumstances and timeframe we had to act swiftly to ensure that the Champs DID take place next season, albeit not to everyone's satisfaction.

No one can question the viability of the venue on racing terms, it has hosted the WCRA championships in the past, and the Nationals more recently. We plan more modifications to this location and you can rest assured that the track will sparkle by the time of the first meeting.

Just like to point out has this is a venue you are putting on for the public the health and safty part of it.

Will you have running drinking water at this venue in time, for the campers and there dogs.

Also proper Toilets for men and women for the people who are coming just for the day.

theirs alot more to think about than just the track.

but i wish you good luck.

Interesting - If Garry is not 'technically on the WCRA committee' as Registrar, I assume he doesn't get a vote at the committee meetings.

I hope you don't think I'm picking on you Ian - but I do find your messages interesting.

At the 4th Champs at Moreton it was made clear that this was the last - 5th October

Garry's initial message only states about the Venue - so I assume that the 1st 2015 Champs will be April 2015 - and I think there is 26 weeks (6 months) between these two dates

The Point missed is Honeyhills is Central - but just Central in Kent

Will we get to know why 'Moreton Cricket Club' put you in this impossible position?

What has happened to the honey hills club are they still up and running and going to ground share, or have they been evicted from their ground by the wcra

21.47 still no reply..??

Apologies - I didn't realise that a reply was mandatory and unlike some, I don't lurk around the internet for hours on end.

Rob: As you well know it isn't politic to enter into public debate about the why's and wherefore's of committee business. Not because there is anything to hide, but because whatever I, or anyone else say here will just fuel further questions and remarks. If the racing public do require a fuller reasoning behind WCRA decisions, then such a reply will have to come directly from the committee itself, not from just one member. Incidentally, if you can discover why Moreton CC wanted us off their ground, I'd be pleased to hear it. The official line is "no more dogs"

Chris: yes and yes

your puppets are working over time Rob, if anyone wants to know what is happening to Honeyhills ask Rixon.

TUT TUT ME COCKNEY SPARROW I WAS ONLY ASKING!!!!!. BUT THANK YOU MR GERMAN....

Interesting message Ray - but its over my head!

I don't think the good people of Kent would like to be refereed to 'puppets' but it is interesting to think that you think I still have enough power over those who live south of 'The River'.

Truth (I know it's always unpleasant) is - We (the Rixons) have never been members at either Maidstone or Honeyhills.

And I'm sure when my mother's family were racing (The Roberts) they were not members either

If I wanted to know what was happening in Kent I'd telephone a committee member.

So Ray's advice to ask Rixon is misplaced - unless he means for you all to contact Bob Rixon - my father, I haven't spoken to him for some time so not sure if he knows what is happening?

"it isn't politic to enter into public debate about the why's and wherefore's of committee business" good point Ian.
