never heard anyone else say their dogs have the cough debbie. u can catch it @ parks etc so u may not have caught it @ wallsend  u r doing the right thing though keeping away from the track, but if its in the air then anyones dogs can get it. i missed champs 2 years ago coz nikki whizz had it then, then last year i was bad think im destined not to go to champs. :(

there is no malice intended in my post about getting the coff....( IT HAPPENS )....but wanted to make people aware so they could keep an eye on their dogs as everyone knows 10 days plus for symtems to show, i was amonst plenty people with toby all day so just be careful people, at least i know i WON,T be at any trackside for at least 3 weeks

WELL CHEERZ 4 LETTING US KNOW DEBBIE. I NEVER HAD MY DOGS THERE 2ND OPEN BUT I HAD THE PUPS THERE THE SUNDAY AFTER SO IL B KEEPING AN EYE ON THEM

if anyone has a dog in their household with kennel cough or the other GASTRIC bug that has been going round I really hope people do the right thing as Deb has done and stay away this weekend

we will have VIRCON 'S' sprays at the traps and a dip for the lure at the end of the track

think thats as much as we can do the rest is up to everyone being responsible dog owners

I believe that infectivity with bordetella bronchiseptica is for 3 months............

I also believe it's transmissable through humans.........

Not all dogs suffering from kennel cough will have symptoms...

Vircon has some merit to dogs that have not been infected providing you know they've not been infected, however contracting what appears to be a very mild variant from racing a dog at the Championships and developing the disease anything between the 4-14 days after the champs seems a little like shutting the door after the horse has bolted.

Obviously the NNWRF have no power of cross-infection control at every race event across the country but it is a thoughtful gesture.

The people who should be worried is those who've ran anywhere within the last fortnight leading up to the champs because it's more likely your dog will be ill at the time of the champs.

With hindsight, the best thing to have done when this first happened (?someone's mentioned January) would of been to get every dog in racing deliberately infected because it is a very mild variant and will give a dog life long immunity against more hardier variants in the future.
