This weekends travels takes me across to an event ive never been too. Chatsworth always had a "name" but im not sure if its as prestigious as it was. Storm qualified a few years back infact it was his first qualifier but i was going to Goa that month and didnt make it.

Gorgeous campsite nearby where a few of us are meeting up...a great bar onsite should entice the ladies to "get them out" i hope  ...oh eff im only kiddin :(

Well known lurcher enthusiasts Big Phil and Lou Fowler were on the fone on sunday and the big man wants me over for a bit of banter ! he has a lovely way with words does Mr Fowler..and his desciption of me would shock you o:)

Two Ulster folk.. William and Samantha are showing Clint so theyre joining up with us on sunday.

regards the racing..ive been told its crap and very short, an uphill 120 yd dash ? what dafuks that all about..where does the "big name" derive from on a track of this magnitude  my 2 could win the race up and down .. but not up (w00t)

Again i feel that these ginormous Country estates begrudge the areas allocated to established lurcher clubs.............................SHAME ON THEM :b

Anyway ive never been here so this will be another one stroked off my list. besides im really looking forward to meeting yet another bunch of "faceless" friends. ...oh crap i hope youre not bloaters

From 11/12 heats of overs n unders to maybe 3 if youre lucky. When i was there you had to run 3 n 4 times, now its a dash and then another ash,n its all over ive heard.Last time i was there,Silver got wrecked in the final, while in front from the word go,and after being beaten in the semi final of the simulated by her sister,(who went on to win the final),my Bonnie bitch didn't run inher final of the unders, and she had won all her heats by a good 3 in some and 7 in another couple.Would go back sometime though,if only to see a few old faces. The top doggy men dont go there now,as you are not allowed to have anyone catch youre dogs at the top of the hill.So if they get wrecked on the way back down, then tough shit.

Times change Billy,Chatsworth was a great venue for lurcher racing  ,where if you wanted to race the best you had to attend  Faces change too.Since I started whippet racing I've only been to a couple of lurcher shows, and there were loads of new faces about.Thats a good thing for lurcher shows,it means they will continue in to the future  There's still some of the old faces about, and thats a good thing also  George still loves lurcher racing, and bugs me weekly about letting Harv take part

We're both going to Chatsworth this year,as a mate as qualified in the obedience final (Good :luck: Lesley :D ) hopefully we'll see a few of the old faces about. If I remember the camera  will take some pics so that you can see how things have changed :D

Hi Billy, I'm taking a trip down memory lane this weekend (w00t) Hazel's twisted my arm up my back to go this year to Chatsworth, mind you she's paying :))

It will be nice to see some old face's and hopefully some new one's too :- "

Do you think I might have lost the nack of hand slipping Billy? taking into consideration my age and all the aches and pains that goes with the big 6 0

Wish you could be there so that we could have the crack  will post some pics of the track so that you can compare it to what it used to be like.

You be careful Geoff :- ",remember that feeling when your on the line, waiting to slip :sweating: its the one thing I miss whippet racing :( Looks like i'm deffinately gonna see some of the older 8) faces Billy.Like Geoff says wish you could be there aswell :)

Billy if the top "lurcher men dont go there" where do they go as ive chased them all round the country. so if Big Phil & Lou and Stuart & Becki ..Simon & Jill (storm) and Darren & Keith (ollie) arent the top people in the lurcher scene id love to know who are.

ive raced the length and breadth of the country and havent seen better. me thinks many people from my country need to forget about 30 years ago and do what i do....

GO LOOKING FOR COMPETETION IN THE PRESENT

mayb next year ill bring a few new faces and maybe a few old ones with me on my conquests

Goodluck for the weekend.. as u know we went last year & other than the bad luck i had with Tori shattering her toe in the racing i did have a good enough time considering  but i thought the gamefair itself was good even though my mum didnt, lol :teehee: there was some good Collar & lead stalls.. then we also collected wee Paris at it too & i won a prize in the raffle aswell,LOL :D :p

Rose :)

i might sound a bit thick but where abouts is chatsworth :)

I'm lead to believe the reason that there isn't too many heats is due to the fact that they no longer race the smooth lurchers against the rough coated lurchers which they did a number of years ago. You lot of grumpy old men need to get over yourselves.. (w00t) .

When i was there 250 years ago...there was this...and that happened....you old coffin dodgers build a bridge and get over it. We'll soon be visiting you in an old peoples homes, you'll be swinging in the armchairs reminising of days gone by. (w00t) :D

All the very best John. It's a fantastic fair with loads on for lurcher enthusiasts...just a pity that the track they run the straight racing on is wick for such an event.

What reason did this rule about not being able catch your dog?, Have never been to this eveny just curious seems odd.

120 yards seems short for lurchers

I could be wrong, but I seem to think it came about after some of the dog owners disagreed with some of the results, causing abit of a scene.
