I recently adopted the BEST greyhound ever and enjoy him more and more everyday! It it getting hot here in MA and many people have suggested purchasing a "baby wading pool" to help Remy cool down after a walk, etc. I picked up the baby pool at PetSmart the other day and filled it with a little water and put it in a semi-shady spot, walked Remy over to the pool and gently splashed some water from the pool on Remy and HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS COOL new object!!! Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can encourage my greyhound, Remy, to take advantage of this "cool" new treat??? Thanks in advance for your help!!

THANK YOU!!! Will get treats today, I know once I get him to go in he will have a great time! Thanks again

I know my greyhound wouldn't get in a paddling pool by the way she avoids puddles. She doesn't do wet or rain. (w00t)

:)) Good luck!! None of my greyhounds would do water, absolutely refused to go out in it unless absolutely vital

Mine wouldn't go anywhere near water!! Hate the rain, don't go near puddles and can't stand streams or the sea. One even colapses whe he is forced to have a bath (once a year event!).

Some just don't do water...

I keep mine cool with a towel soaked in cold water and rung out, and keep them in the shade with a big bowl of water (if they have to be outside on a hot day)- greys can dehydrate really quickly, so don't let him lie in the sun for too long however much he protests!

The other option is to get a freind's dog to show him what it's all about, he probably thinks you are mad, but if he sees another dog having fun perhaps it would help?! Know anyone with a Spaniel - they love water!!

we have a pool set up in the back most of my whippets will happly pop in and out but teh greyounds think its the most disgusting idea they have ever seen and wont even look in its direction its just to common It donest even have a wirlpool so its no go.
