I would appreciate some feed back about bringing back club team racing. It's not about top ten, although a free date would be ideal, it's about clubs getting a team together and shouting their dogs on to win what could be a generious amount of money for their club funds. A trophy would be donated for the winning team (club team champions) and it would be 100% payout. This would be a one day event run by Notts & Derby wrc. We hav'ent had any team events for a few years now, are you interested? if so we would be more than willing to put one on next year. Regards Lynda

i thinbk it is a great idea it was so good when we had it all club members shouting for the club dog that belonged to them

all the focus on each dog was great

yes please bring it back

don

i think its a good idea but instead of just a club cud it be a region? we only have 2 clubs in the north east wallsend and westerhope but there mite b a dog that was a member of westerhope but not wallsend, do u get me?

Personally, I think it's a Great Idea! Can't understand why it ever finished! As has been said, by others, it's great to see all the members of one club shouting their dogs' across the finishing line! I hope it gets further than just us talking about it, because there are so many people only too willing to put a dampener on any ideas that haven't been thought of by themselves! Good Luck with it Lynda, you've certainly got my support!

Be patient with me Carole, but I'm not very familiar with the set-up in your area of the country. You refer to the north east has having only two clubs, so what area of the region is Stockton club in? It's many years since I raced up there and I realise that some clubs have gone to the wall, but practically every week, or its sometimes seems so, there are opens staged by various clubs. what is the position and where are these clubs situated? Also, it shouldn't make a difference if an owner is a member of one and not the other. Surely each club could send a team! As I say, I'm ignorant of your circumstances in that part of the country, but I'm also sure that I'm not the only one and would be grateful if you could bring us up to date with some info! Let's hope we can find a way that we can all take part in what should be a fun event! X

as is often the case lots of people assume stockton etc is the north east region. technically it is i suppose classed as north east but in the whippets the north east region consists of 2 clubs which are wallsend and westerhope. stockton, shilden, dawdon, horden are all north yorks. some people assume wallsend/stockton etc are near to each other, there not i live near wallsend club and it takes us approx 40 minutes to an hour to get to the likes of stockton/shidlen etc. we r a bit closer to horden/dawdon but even then it is still a half an hours drive. thats why when i do a north east report i say things like * we havent got many bend dogs racing* there cud be a dozen from the north yorks region but only 2 from the north east. the only other way i can describe it is that the north east clubs seem to be on the north side of the river tyne ie thru the tyne tunnel. i hope this helps. i dont suppose it wud make any difference to us tbh as most people are members of both clubs but i was just thinking there cud be one or two that are only members say of westerhope but they wud like to race in a club teams event.

Thanks for your prompt reply, Carole, it's appreciated! Now that I'm better informed, I'll be able to follow things better. I hope you able to field at least one team for next year because then all areas of the country would be represented! Good Luck! X

Me too Yvonne.I've heard loads of storys about club team competitions of the past, and they've always sounded great events.Come on folks get all the clubs involved. It'll be great  If a clubs only got a few members, then maybe the members could join the larger neighbouring club aswell

So, could it be a regional team as Carol suggested, because just like her region there are only two clubs in the Mid-West region

Worcester & Fordingbridge, and I think both would struggle to make a team up individually, but combined it could be a possibility.

Doreen

I would love team racing to make a comeback.

See what you and Carole mean Doreen, but if it's a regional event, then such as East Midlands region would be inundated with choice of dogs to enter, and maybe alot of members unable to take part. What about small clubs such as Fordy and Worcester, joining together for event, and calling themselves Fordy & Worscester Club, and same for Caroles 2 clubs. That way the bigger clubs can enter a team and hopefully more taking part.Hope that makes sense

:ermm: I agree, Karen! If it were made a regional event, then East Midlands could field an A, B, and C Team, which I don't think would be entirely fair on the smaller regions, but, as you say our region would have a bigger choice of dogs to choose from and you would be denying a lot of owners the chance to take part! So what's the answer that wouldn't upset too many people? I used to love the team events and would love to see them return, especially for the younger members' who weren't around when they were last staged! Good job we've got the dark nights to mull it over! (w00t)

If this would be allowed then yes we could all take part, and it would make for a great atmosphere of racing, if not then you would probably just get the dogs from the clubs within your area.

I think with things like this all that's needed is a little common sence, its just for fun so bigger clubs can field a team maybe even 2 if they have enough dogs but on the other hands smaller clubS who don't have enough dogs on there own can join with another club in their region 2 make up a team if need b. As was said it just for fun and to bring racers together so u want as many ppl There as possible, no point excluding ppl cos they belong to a small club

 Couldn't agree more! Well said, Val! :flowers:

Thanks very much for your feed-back on getting the club team championships up and running. after reading your positive comments we have decided to give it a go in 2013. The idea is for it to be a fun day with, hopefully members having the chance to build up their club funds as some are struggling at the moment with expensive ground rent and having to pay their own public libility. If this event gets well supported it could be quite a nice pay out for the winning team and runner-up, of course its up to the winners what they decide to do with the money. I can remember getting a team together from North Notts wrc when they were in Devon, we all travelled down in 3 motors, wagon train style. It was a brilliant day with everyone shouting their own club dogs home, the iceing on the cake was North Notts won it ! The journey home did'nt seem half as long, those were the days. This is just an example how we were thinking of running it.

Handicap 4 up to 25lbs / 4 up to 35lbs

1 45lbs scr dog / 1 n/l scr dog

1 up to 25lbs vet / 1 up to 35lbs vet.

12 dogs per team @ £3.50 (lure) = £36 per team.

If 5 teams entered making a straight final winning team would get £130 & runner-up £30

6 teams ( 2x3 ) winners £156 runner-up £60. obviously the more clubs enter, higher the prize money. Dogs must have run at the club they are representing at least 3 times in the season. A club can run a dog twice with in the same team if they are short of dogs. Choose a team leader and enter your team on a sheet l/w dogs 1 to 4 (races) put dogs name at the side of which race you want it in, same with h/w.

d/h in heats to share points. d/h in main final will be decided on a count back on highest placings. If there is 2 sections 1st & 2nd will go into final.

As some of you have pointed out, some clubs might struggle to make a team up so we agree if needs be for 2 clubs to team up as long as they are in the same region. Fordy/Worc. Kirkcaldy/Ayrshire. Wallsend/ Westerhope. not sure about nth/yks Horden, Stockton and Shildon/Acliffe one would have to go it alone, obviously the club with the most dogs but thats for them to decide. Maltby and Thurrock are the only club in their region but l have noticed both clubs seem to have lots of youngsters trialing so come next year they will probably be able to make a team up, lets hope so. Notts & Derby, Shirebrook, Old Hall and A & T Miners should be ok. We have tried our best to make it possible for every club to take part. Looking forward to hearing any questions or idea's, we've got all winter to get it right between us. Regards Lynda

P.S. the club will have a new photo finish camera in operation for club racing next year this will be used at the club champs.

hopefully wallsend will have a team but we may struggle with veterans depening on time of year its held.
