well i looked up the standard again it just says all colours allowed so what colours do they come in

The list is quite extensive if you start adding the variations on colour + white (e.g. fawn & white, fawn white trim, fawn particolour) but please, please people could we stick to the recognized whippet terms. Someone has registered a puppy as chocolate in the last brs and as whippets do not carry the gene for liver or chocolate, I have no idea what colour the dog is. This invites speculation that the dog is not pure bred as registered so it goes on the list of registrations I draw to the attention of the Kennel Club as possibly fraudulent - like a litter of blacks from two blues which is genetically impossible. Other non whippet terms are brown, tan and beige: one highly respected breeder made the mistake of writing br as an abbreviation for brindle and was horrified to receive a batch of registrations for brown whippets - because it is done by computer which automatically fills in the rest of a word. The accepted (in the coursing world) abbreviation for brindle whippets and greyhounds is bd but I have never tested whether the computer knows that So if you know someone registering their first litter, please persuade them to stick to the recognized terms - it is not necessary to produce a shade card for interior decoration! Also, I'd be willing to bet that three quarters of the whippets registered as blue masked fawn have lost their blue mask by the time they are a few months old. Lastly, particolour simply tells you that a large part of the dog is white - it needs qualifying as in fawn particolour, brindle particolour etc. White is not a colour, it is an absence of colour.

Grey!!!!!! That was what my blue boy was registered as, I had it changed, told the breeder so she could correct the others!!!!!!

I suspect that the puppy is fox red, they start out as chocolate. A novice registering a litter early could easily make that mistake.

Here are three cute little chocolate puddings.

One turned out Sable. He ended up with an amazing close sheeny coat with masses of black in it.

Some come out as feisty redheads...

Women in parks eh? The woman in our park told me she doesn't believe in autism! That was as my then two y.o with autism proceeded to have a mega meltdown because the wind blew a piece of litter he was admiring!!! Still at least OH was there too or I may have belted her! Women in parks? Whatever next!

They look more chocolatey in the newborn fur. I've had quite a few of them.
