hi all .i am a complete novice at owning a whippet , my little boy is 7 months old now and i would like to know how to go about training him for racing . i would like to join a club but am very nervous at approching them ? sorry to sound really dense  thank you

If you know where your nearest whippet racing club is and when they run, just turn up and take a look at what goes on and it won't be long before someone takes you under their wing and begins to show you the ropes. All clubs are glad of new members and welcome newcomers to the sport/hobby, if you're not sure about where your nearest club will be, just post where you are located and im sure someone will inform you. Dont be nervous we're really not a bad bunch  You may get asked lots of questions but dont be afraid to ask your own questions in return, 7 months is a good age to introduce a puppy to racing. :luck:

Hiya and welcome to K9!

Don't feel nervous about approaching one of the clubs, they'll give you and your dog a warm welcome!

Wherabouts are you?

Best of luck :luck:

:D Hi there, I'm the handicapper at Old Hall W.R.C. and if you want to come along to see how we do things, you're more than welcome. We race every Sunday morning, weather permitting, and if you get there at about 10.00a.m. you will see the trialling, followed by the racing. If you want any more info, then feel free to pm me.

Hiya welcome to non-ped whippet racing and K9 , Old Hall great club and great crowd who run there, you will be made very welcome and get all the help and advice you need, best of luck with your pup, :luck: whats its breeding and as allways we love to see pics so get your camera going

by the way don't let the rows on here scare you off its mostly just a healthy debate which sometimes can go a little over the top but were all quite friendly on the outside

Welcome to non-ped racing Basil Brush  you'll also be able to school your dog on the bends at Highgate WRC when its older.

We start our saturday nights from about september, weather permitting, gates open 4pm, first race 5pm its a good family night out

If you like you can come along this saturday evening and you'll see what its all about.
