When I got that message the hard drive had shattered...hope you haven't lost much if yours has :huggles: :huggles:

Sorry don't know the answer to this.

Have you checked there isn't a CD in your disc drive, the computer might be trying to boot up from there.

Just a thought

It sounds like your harddrive has failed, has it been dropped??

sounds like a boot sector virus - reload Windows from CD or repair from CD.

Oooooo didn't I sound all knowledgeable there? Shall I admit that Kev told me what to put, or leave you marvelling at my immense brain????

Trac it could well have been that Trojan virus from facebook....took me ages getting rid of it...hope it hasnt attacked your hard drive... :(

Use your CD like Urchin said to boot the PC back up ..if this works I would run a virus scanner through straight away...

I used Malwarebytes download to get rid of it...

I don't use facebook, as I have heard its not secure, and have heard lots of people say they have had trouble after visiting it :(

Definitely need to try to boot from the operating system CD. You might need to change your boot order in BIOS first.

Here's a how to guide

Make the CD drive first in the boot order, then switch off and start again, this time it should boot from the Windows CD. Good job you have another computer to use, its invaluable if you need to look anything up to fix another. It should give you the option of reinstalling Windows, or repairing. I'd try repairing first  Good luck :luck:

...on the plus side of course...if Trac has a sore throat and is losing her voice...her computer is knackered...now all we need to do is silence her mobile phone... :- "
