Just a small unrelated show brag ...
On the weekend, Connie a.k.a. Aust Ch Peperone Marquis, was temperament tested to become a part of the pet therapy program, which is nation wide in Australia and SHE PASSED!!
We looked very funny with all the German Shephards, and for a moment I though we both may have been a little out of our depth, but the people running the assessment were absolutely thrilled with her performance and Connie proved that she had better nerves than me!
The test involves, walking past other dogs and being patted by a stranger (the easy bits) followed by being cornered whilst about 3 - 4 people give your dog heavy petting that they can't escape from, (not so easy!!) and exposure to wheelchairs and walking frames etc. (which I might add the German Shephards hated, but Connie took in her stride and went up and investigated without having to be told to!)
The conclusion of the test consisted of a recall (fastest on the day by an absolute mile!!) and lots of shouting and yelling, attempted kicks up the bum and restraining cuddles. Connie took all this in her stride and actually came back for more!! (Big scarey man didn't scare her!!, in fact she made me laugh with the look on her face which said "Mum these people are idiots ... don't they know how to behave in public!!)![Big Grin :D :D](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
On the day 5 German Shephards passed, as did a Curly coated Retriever and Connie, with 1 German Shephard and 1 Cocker Spaniel failing!
So needless to say we will be taking each 2nd Sunday off from the show ring to visit the old folks home and give them a bit of whippet love!!
Cheers
