Hi all, i'm after picking brains again.

Merlin my 3 year old whippet has been vomitting for the last 24 hours every time he eats - he cannot keep any food down and is sick within an hour or less of eating. It started yesterday late afternoon and once his stomach was empty he still carried on being sick throughout the night (bile). Other than around the time he's sick he seems quite normal, he has been going for his walks and seems to have energy - he is also interested in food and wants to eat but he just can't keep it down. I don't think it's anything dodgy that he's eaten as he had the same thing for breakfast as my other whippet and they were lead walked yesterday so he couldn't of eaten anything from the floor.

If he's still like it tomorrow I will take him to the vet but I just wondered if anyone else had had anything similar happen with their dog.

Cheers

Jill

I don't want to worry you too much but the first sign of my previous dog's pancreatitis was vomiting. A very nasty condition. I should definitely get it checked out, and don't be fobbed off with being told it is a bug if your instinct tells you it is more serious than that. Chances are it is nothing serious, definitely worth checking with a vet though.

I think a trip to the vet is a must to rule out anything sinister.

In the meantime, keep his fluids up as poor chap will be badly dehydrated now.

Good luck at the vet and I hope he is on the mend very soon  :luck:

:luck: :luck: at the vets tomorrow

Thanks for your advice - I gave him some scrambled egg this morning and so far so good, he's kept it down. Will monitor him for the rest of the day but if it happens again he's straight up the vets.

has he been eating grass its their way of biling out try giving him some natural yoghurt and make sure he has plenty of fluids and a trip to vets sooner than later if he's sick again

When my dog has anything like this and needs to be re-hydrated, I always give her milk mixed with water - it seems to encourage her to drink more and get her fluids up. Also, I thought vomiting like this could be a sign of an obstruction? but I may be wrong!
