Had a very good 4 page article on Lurchers and Longdogs this week.

Anyone interested the New forest have a Lurcher show on next weekend. I have been before and it is a good day out

Sorry if I am a bit blond :( (w00t) I would love to go to a lurcher show, but never having been to one, would like to know what goes on there before I go to one.

Lurcher shows can be a great day out, so long as you dont take them too seriously. I ve been to hundreds, and judged over 30, I enjoy everything about them, especially meeting like minded people, some from very different parts of the country..Some shows have seperate classes for sighthounds

I though this weeks Countrymans Weekly was one of the best we`ve had for a while. Plenty "doggy stuff" in it.

Has anyone seen the mag by the same people, WILDLIFE & COUNTRYSIDE???

I really enjoy the Lurcher shows whether I am showing or judging. Strangely enough I have made more friends through the judging side rather than the showing. I find it a relaxing day out, the dogs enjoy it as there is no stress. I met up with old friends towards the end of last year as I started to show Tally and what was nice was they gave an honest opinion of her which didnt change when she went in and beat them all. A great day out to be recommended especially if the show is part of the large gamefairs although they are expensive to get into.

Jans correct, lurcher shows can be great, and game fairs even better, there are so many other countryside orientated things going on, for visitors to see, or, participate in. I was invovled with the running of the Northumberland & Durham Working Lurcher club, we had lurcher classes, sighthound classes, childrens classes (not showing the kids, but letting them have the feel of going into the ring with their dogs) agility tests, lure racing, demonstrations etc, etc, etc...Great day out

Sunday April 17th at New Park Brokenhurst. Judging starts at 1130am and there is a companion dogs how as well Enquiries on 023 8089 3988 or 07976 713737

Good luck if you are going
