A Frenchie Chow - French bulldog x Chow Chow. I saw one the other day quite cute but not 2 breeds I would put together

I also get so cross when I see some of these x breeds as that is what they are. But people will pay a fortune for them, and just bred because they look cute. Not thinking what problems they can have when giving birth or later in life. When I think of a pomski they look cute but really a pom and huskyIt worries me that people are randomly crossing anything, with no regard to what they are creating.
Aside from physical characteristics, we've selectively bred dogs over thousands of years to do particular jobs. Crossing dogs with very different breed traits could result in a litter of conflicted, even neurotic pups.
I had one, and have known a few others. Mine wasn't bred on purpose - she was a farm accident. Farms that keep a collie for the sheep and a terrier for the vermin can easily slip up and produce a litter. I got her as a rescue at around 18 months, my first dog. She had the brains of the collie and tenacity of the terrier. When her ball went into a bramble thicket she'd not give up until she'd got it. Her only real fault was her obsession with team ball games, she'd run off to join in. On her last walk at the age of nearly 16, I had to fight to keep her from dragging me off to join in a game of rugby that she could only hear, not see, as she was blind by then.Well, if you cross a Jack Russell Terrier with a Shih Tzu, you end up with Jack Shih-T.
I have heard of people crossing Border Collies with Jack Russell Terriers to come up the ultimate flyball dogs - the Border Jack. Sounds like a nightmare on crack, to me...
I always said that if ever a flock of sheep went down a rabbit hole, Ziggy (BC x JRT) would be just the dog for the job.Crossing dogs with very different breed traits could result in a litter of conflicted, even neurotic pups.
Hence your user name?I always said that if ever a flock of sheep went down a rabbit hole, Ziggy (BC x JRT) would be just the dog for the job.
Well, my Felix certainly wasn't purposely bred, but the mix that came back from his Wisdom DNA panel could potentially explain why he could, at times, be described best as 'conflicted & even neurotic' (It worries me that people are randomly crossing anything, with no regard to what they are creating.

No - I was living at Burrow Heights when I joined the other forum with that username. And of course my dog at the time was Ziggy.Hence your user name?
Looks like there's a good bit of Jack Russell in there.Well, my Felix certainly wasn't purposely bred, but the mix that came back from his Wisdom DNA panel could potentially explain why he could, at times, be described best as 'conflicted & even neurotic' (It's OK, we still love him... sometimes!) 28% Plott Hound, 21% Chihuahua then 17 other bits & pieces of breeds to make up the other half. We refer to him as our Plottihuahua.

We refer to that as a 'project face', since it's indicative of a dog who has been working busily on a fun project...Borador.......a Border Collie x Labrador................I just happen to own one.
However she was not the result of an intentional cross; but a random crossing of 2 ranch dogs.
What is it about dogs and dirt?
