Hateyhateyhatey HATEY! Nasty. Horrid. Blue. Face-cage. Gerritoff-gerritoff-geritoff.

Can’t even sniff properly. When you stick your nose in a nice poo, as you do, to see who’s been in the park it all sticks on the end and you’re still sniffing poo when you don’t want to be sniffing poo and that’s not nice – but it’s ok coz Anty’s got something handy to wipe it off with. Whaddaya call it? Drousers? Brousers? TROUSERS! That’s it!

One-nil, one-nil…..one-nil one-nil!

Digit you are such a charactor

he's injured and resting!

actually, to be more accurate he's injured, on lead walks only and driving me nuts! not to mention coursing my cats round the flat.

Both times he did it chasing squirrels. Though i never actually witnessed it, i think he skidded on wet leaves. My first alert was the Whippet Death Cry ringing out across the park.

For those of you who know me, after my run up from the pond I arrived frantic and panting ......

(For those who don't, my fleet footed entrance to the woodland scene was elegant and graceful with only a hint of my concern betrayed by my breathing!)

.....to find Dij collapsed in a heap, still screaming, paw in the air for effect, surrounded by 2 coppers and 2 park rangers.

However, he managed to stand and limp back home (literally 25yards from the park gates). I kept a careful eye for the next 24 hrs, no heat or swelling and only a bit of a limp.

So I laid him up for a fortnight and dropped his protein - and did my best to cope with the particular brand of stir-crazy that resting whippets bring to a household.

So, 2 weeks later we're back in the park. I'd been letting him have 5 minute bursts off the lead for 3 or 4 days to build him up gradually, but decided it was time for a proper run

Off the lead, chasing squirrels into the trees and ...... a carbon copy of the previous incident ensued

Whippet screams cutting the air, Urchin running like a gazelle all sleek and impressively coordinated - Dij in a heap, paw in air 3 feet away from the spot i found him in last time! only this time no crowd of concerned onlookers!

Again he was able to walk home (luckily for me, as he's a mighty big whippet!) and no swelling detected (by me or my vet nurse friend)

So am resting him a bit longer this time to give him chance to mend properly - trouble is, there's so many squirrels about that he doesn't quite know what to do with himself!

Will leave Dij to give his take on the adventure but will have to be later as my lunch break is over ..... But am guessing the word BORED is gonna figure quite prominently!

Poor (silly) wee man. Hope he feels better soon. :luck:

Come on Dij, where's your version of events ? :huggles:
