What should have been another most enjoyable day in this fantastic weather was brought to an abrupt full stop, once again another sheep slaughtered, i wont show you the other side of the poor old dear, and and what was inside, im adamant now that i wont associate with anyone who doesnt bother for one reason or another to livestock train their dogs, and whilst im here, should i decide to mate my bitch, it will be one of the terms anyone will have to agree to, and that is livestock training, even if i have to travel the length and bredth of the country to help in doing so, i will have nightmares at what ive seen today

Oh Keith, how awful.

:huggles: for you because you're upset

Pauline

THAT IS BLOODY DISGUSTING!! IF PEOPLE ARENT RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO CONTROL THEIR DOGS THEY DESERVE TO HAVE THEM SHOT GOD KNOWS WHAT THAT POOR EWE WENT THROUGH PROBABLY PREGNANT TOO  keith if everybody was as responsible as you with their dogs hunny this world would be a better place xx :huggles:

omg!!!! why oh why do people not undertake the very simplest of training or keep their dogs on leads!!!!

totally agree with you keith!!!

Hi totally agree with you, when i was working :- " many years ago had to deal with pit bulls killing sheep and that was horrendous, they would grab them by the nose and just twist so basically from the nose up was ripped off quite often leaving the animal alive until the farmer could dispatch. Got so angry once with this as i had told the owners previously, that i put one of these live ones in the rear of the police van and went with the farmer and a shot gun on to the hippy site, think they were a bit frightened as i was in a hell of a rage. didnt have problems after that

yes thought it was keith its unforgivable  i know my two would chase them so i make sure they are kept on the lead actually angel on her own is fine but together they would be hell i plan on livestock training them this year but untill i do any form of livestock is a strict no no

It is dreadful that this sort of thing still goes on with all the publicity about keeping dogs under control while on farm land.

I witnessed a terrible slaughter by a pack of hounds. I have to add these were not from a hunt. Sheep were dying, left so wounded they had to be shot, petrified to move when surrounded by these dogs. The vet and landowner called the police and followed on of these dogs back to some disgusting kennels. Their owner said prove which dogs were responsible which we in all honesty could not. Because nothing could be proved this awful man got away with it. The RSPCA were sent in to look at how the dogs were kept, would not do anything because they were fed and watered, it didn't matter that they were standing on blocks and logs to keep their feet out of the mud and shit.

Makes me so mad.

What a horrible thing to see

I can only imagine how you must feel Keith, i've never had to witness anything like that but can picture how horrific it must have been for you. No wonder your day was ruined, such a horrible thing to have happened, poor sheep :(

I am also on the livestock training mission this year - sadly right now my boys are dreadful, which is why they walk on leads in the countryside.

This has always seemed a shame, but until they are reliable there is no way I would let them run where farm animals are kept.

My experience with Dij is that he runs round livestock barking at them, rather than trying to bite. However, I am very aware that prey species can die of shock, or panic and injure themselves trying to escape, or abort any foetus they are carrying - so the fact that he has never bitten anything doesn't change the fact that right now, he isn't safe off the lead with livestock.

quite right of you to highlight this Keith, and sorry that your day was spoiled by someone without the sense of responsibility for their dog's actions that you have

Sorry you had to see that Keith, doesn't matter how many times you have seen sheep that have been worried it doesn't get any easier. :huggles:

That is so awful. Poor sheep and poor you Keith for finding her. :( :( What a terrible experience. I commend you for having trained Jill with livestock. My two aren't (blame myself for that) so I am really, really careful where I let them off the lead, to the point of being a bit paranoid about it, but it is the only way to ensure they don't cause a problem.

I even worry about the neighbours' cats that come into my garden. One neighbour has 3 and the other has 2.

Oh Keith that is awful that poor Ewe - her little face...

Maybe you should write a booklet on livestock training because Jill is exemplary in her behaviour around them.

Words fail me, Keith

Poor ewe - looks like she may have been carrying a double too :(

Wish I could turn the clock back, for the ewe and for you - to save you having to see it :(
